Hi sorry to post probably such a common question as this. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to get a sr20det engine in southern california and what major problems to look for when I install the engine. I need a engine for a 96 240sx se. Thanks and sorry if i have annoyed anyone.

I am going to get my front clip from http://www.phase2motortrend.com They have been recommended by a couple people to me.

There is a guy I have been talking to, who just swapped an S14 SR into his S14 (dont' know what year), and they seem to be taking good care of him.

Also, heard that http://www.twinsturbo.com was a good shop in Signal Hills.

I don't know where Northridge is very well, but I know it's close (felt the earthquake, hehe). phase2 is in Irwindale, and they do installs there (S14 was installed inhouse), I'm just going to get my s13 clip from them and install it myself. I know Signal Hills is southwest of LA. There are a few other shops around, but I can't remember the names. There is a shop in Riverside that does just Nissan stuff, but I don't know the name of it.

EDIT: southwest

There may be, but none that I know of. Theres McKinney Motorsports, in Santee, but their prices are pretty high for an install. $5300 to get it into stock JDM condition.

phase2 sells front clips for $2500. That is a damn good price, best price I ever found was $2200 for a front clip, but that was through a private seller, and I don't know how often he gets engines. If you want to get just the engine, you can probably get them for ~$2200. It just depends on the shop. As for installation, that varies a lot. Can go from $1000 - $3000. If you have any knowledge of engines, or friends who do, I suggest doing the swap yourself, it's not terribly hard. The wiring is the worst, and Heavy Throttle has the wiring harness service for $100.

edit: If you can, message me on AIM, I'm at school right now, but I should be home by around 5PM.edit2: I just remembered you have an S14, prices are considerably higher for an S14, and S14 engines are harder to come by, also, wiring is more difficult. Getting your AC to work will be a big PITA, if you can get it done at all.

Mark @ Slide Squad is a really cool guy, when I first started doing SR20 research about a year ago, he took some time, and answered all of my questions as best he could. I emailed him about a week ago, and he hasn't responded, so I don't know if that email address is the most up to date. Anyway, his Silvia was an S13 with an S13 SR20. It is the easiest swap, and that's what I'm going to have.

Anyway, my AIM name is BuudWeizErr.
