First of all excuse my ignorance since I currently own an Acura as my daily, but what is the difference in the 3.5 lt motor from the Pathfinder to 350Z to G35 to the FX35.

Reason I'm asking is that I'm looking at buying a FX35 here in the next few weeks and want to know what are some of my upgrade performance options that will be available. ie. Headers, intake, exhaust etc...

Thanks,Rick

Several things may be different about the configurations as the cars are all on different chassis.

If you're looking to perform some upgrades to your new FX35, why don't you look into just buying the FX45, it has the same engine as the Q45, and already has more performance than the 35 version. Just a thought, I would be happy with either.

I thought about that, but after test driving the FX45 I was not that much more impressed over the FX35 ...especially when considering the $7,000 price difference. I'm trying to figure out, with the help of this forum, how much money would it take to get above 350fwhp on the FX35....surely it can't be $7,000 can it???

I know quite abit about motors, but really nothing about the 3.5 and its potential...will someone please educate me?

Well, if you want fwhp, you need to look at a Murano. The FX is built on the FM platform, so it is primarily a rear wheel drive vehicle.

I guess you couldn't tell the guy he was stress cracking the glass in your fender.

FWHP?? Now that's funny!:D FWHP stand for FLY wheel Hp not FRONT Wheel HP, and I know its AWD;)

So can you mod the 3.5 to get 350 FWHP??

BTW: The guy stressing the Fiberglass is me:)

There more than likely is nothing that's being produced solely for the FX. Things like headers, intake, and exhaust are gonna have to be test fitted. The headers for the motor are designed for the RWD and close chassis 350GT and 300Z.

Here's what you can have done:

1. Fit the 300Z aftermarket headers, should be ample room to fit them.2. Have a custom exhaust system built from the headers back. 3. ECU Tune4. Cold Air Induction

I don't think that will get you 350hp however it will be a step up from the standard equipment.

What about my original question about the differences in the block, heads, cams etc...

Also will the Stillen SC fit on this vehicle?

the modified crawford plenum will help

Check out g35driver.com and freshalloy.com for more detail but as far as I can tell the FX35 has the same tuning as the 350Z.

The headers etc should be the same and there should be the same amount of room in the engine compartment for thing.

Just remember that you will be testing this unless someone on the other forums has tried it already

Alot of people say the FX45 has a rougher ride than the 35 and they are improving the ride for both in the 04 models from what I hear. I went with the G35 since I did not like the ride in the fx. Too SUV for me

Gulp! Well, I'll just be moseying along now.

But the FX45 is AWD as you realize. Less chance to upgrade unless you believe the Keulyian (sp.?) supercharger is viable.

Some have claimed to get near 350 HP RWP with superchargers or turbochargers on the 350Z. But at what price of the engine's durability, who knows?

You could always get a Cayenne S if you can get past the looks the sticker price, and the sheer mass. __________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t

i dont think the heads or anyhting internal is really diffrent between the 3 , id have to say that the internals on the fx and z stuff should be indentical since the z is built off of the g35 and the fx is also built off the g35 platform , id think the hp diffrencs were done in the exaust manifolds and computer work , since the drivetrains are a little driffrent but thats just a guess from all the literature ive seen

did the vette start out as a ZO6? I see the rear ducts from a zo6 on the side , just thought id ask

it was awesome to see the stock z06 at bowling green plant , they put it on the rollers for run up after assembly and he broke the tyres loose in 2nd and got all sqirrly on the dyno drums , pretty damn cool , i was so mesmorized that i accidentally held up a car that was trying to leave for the lot (stood in the way )...i have to go smoke a ciggie every time i think about it

The VQ35DE is essentially the same engine in all those applications.Differences are only those, that were neccessary to make it fit in different vehicles, such as tune, location and nature of peripherals.

Fred...:)
