Hi. I drive a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5S. My dad thinks synthetic oil is best when getting an oil change. I don't think it makes a difference, but I was wondering, if I wanted to get an oil change with synthetic oil, what kind synthetic oil should I get? Thanks in advance.

Davidskb-First off, let me Welcome you to the Altima Forums of NICO.

I would suggest getting a good Synthetic or Semi Synthetic for your Altima. I own a 2002 2.5S and I use Valvoline Durablend Semi Synthetic (10W-40). Durablend is a very reputable oil in the car enthusiast world.

When I had my Subaru WRX, I used Mobil One Synthetic (15W-50). Although this rating (15W-50) would be a bit much for the 2.5 Altima, they do make a 0W-40, a 5W-30 and a 10W-30 that you could use.

I dont think that you can go wrong with either the Mobil One or Durablend. I would encourage you to use the search function on our site to find some of the different discussions we have had about oil. Some are very technical if you are into that.
