Hey everyone.

I've been hanging out at this forum for the last couple months trying to learn as much as I can about the CA compared to the SR. I guess I've decided to go with the CA due to what I've heard about the quality of the engine, and the fact that I love rev-able engines (I'm a former Honda fan). Anyway, I've got a couple questions for you guys.

-I've heard that some CA's cranks and crank bearings have issues, and that I should get the crank knife-edged and balanced along with new bearings. Is this true?

-I've also heard that the 240's power steering has problems after swapping in a CA. True or false?

-What kind of parts can be interchangable with the CA and SR? I've heard that the CA, SR, and Sentra clutch is basically the same. And what about downpipes? Can you use the same downpipe as an SR?

-Lastly, I've noticed that some of you guys on the board are from Washington State. Do you guys recomend a shop around here to do the work, or did you do it yourself?

Anyway, sorry for the dumb questions, but I'm just trying to clear up some of the things I've heard.

ThanksJoe

i can answer the power steering one! it is true, my power steering lines were on the wrong side (i have a 89, 89-90 didnt match up), i think, in any case they didnt make it to the new location of the pump. i used compression fittings and piping from my clip to make them long enough. im told you can use power steering lines from a 91-93 240 and they work just fine.

a clutch for a 86-89 stanza with the ca20 is a direct fit. i know, cuase i work in a parts store and matched it up my self. i doubt it is going to last long though. ill probably upgrade to the sr20 flywheel and clutch when money permits.

Is this true?[/quote] A well taken care of engine will not present you with problems, but most of the RWD engines have no history papers with them, so you don't know what kid or person in Japan was drifting from day to another one up until the car's JCI ran out and it was junked. I've had multiple engines and have burned a few pistons, but no problem with the bottom end crank-wise.Quote »What kind of parts can be interchangable with the CA and SR? The CA has a bigger spline than the SR as far as the clutch is concerned. The CA shares splines with the stanza and maxima, but not the SR (At least in FWD applications).

I'm not too sure about the sr and ca downpipes being interchangeable. I have a 3in downpipe intended for an sr on my ca now, but I had to have the flange cut and rotated a bit. KA clutches work. I am using the clutch disc from my KA on my CA Now if i could just fix my overheating problem.:pface
