Hey there, I'm comin over from the other side of the spectrum I previously owned a 2000 Civic and totalled it out in the first 3 months and finally realized it's not for me. I want a car that I can tune for a hobby as well as drive daily. It'll be an all around car for anything I want...civic theme was done when i realized after all the money to tune and do swaps I still wouldn't have as much HP as other cars stock. Then I thought about DSM's, but now i've been trying to read up on nissans. I want to find out what model and everything I want, so when i get my money I know what to look for...I'm not sure what I'd want more a 240SX S14....or a 300ZX..and also just browsing around I am upon the NX and I really couldn't find info on it. Can anyone give me pro's and cons' or reference material for specs and HP's throughout and the opportunities for swap..I like the front ends of S14's I was goin to do that swap to my civic shesh...but the 300ZX sleekness intrigues me too...any information on these few cars will help me a great deal. Tks

I like the the s14's but I maybe a lil bias!

The s14/s13's with the ka have a Killer powerband, with good amounts of torque throughout the whole p.band. The suspension for stock will outdo ALMOST any stock suspension from its time, I think I remember it pulling a .84g on a 300ft skid pad, (correct me if I am wrong please!). Also parts are abundant out there and the cars are pretty light, esp. compared to the 300zx. Hope this helps....got anymore questions on the s14?

Well, if you wanna take it upon yourself to tell me everything ha...I don't know I never looked into Nissans before i bought my honda and i'm glad i got bailed out by having it totalled out...umm...I'll definately wanna get at least a 95 I don't really like the body styles before that...what kinda prices should I be looking at....i mean...a cheaper one with high miles and swap everything...and then I guess i'm newer to the whole front clip idea would I be doing just the engine or would it be worthwhile to get a whole clip...would you look to turboing it or is it better to stick N/A and build it all up?...anything and everything is appreciated....or good links with every bit of info

Well, its all about what you want..... You can find cheap s14's with high miles, and then you CAN replace the motor.

I would just try to find one with a lsd!!!! Also try to get an se if possible, I really like my white gauges and fogs!

I wouldn't do the motor swap, you can turbo your ka and make it very very mean.

Try going to our 240sx forums and there are endless amounts of info....

zm_dawg,

Don't let these 240 guys snatch you up just yet. Take a look at an Infiniti Q45. It will cost about 4-5 grand for a nice one with decent mileage and another 5-6 grand to get in great shape but you can't beat that 4.5L v8 and 278 horses under the hood. And she rides like a dream.

Just make sure to look at all possibilities.

Nick :)

I don't think I ever looked into Infiniti's at all...thing is I want something I can put power through and still have the sport compact thing comin through. I'm looking to open up a shop and want something to advertise through. I can admit the S14's stock just don't do everything for me...but when I look at show ones and add like a clean bumper and set of sideskirts they look really nice. What are the different models for S14's you said SE but what else is there...big HP differences throughout the different trims? Also, like you said I'll find it cheaper with higher miles and I would believe I'd look for putting in a new engine due to the miles...no sense in adding F/I with high miles...just wanna make sure I understand....a stock S14 engine is?...and reiterating how many trims does like a 96 come in..different engines...and what engines would I look into swapping to like a 96 assuming I get the cheaper with high miles..I'd just like that..a good body high miles beggin for a swap?...

im not sure what the differences are in the se's than the non se's, but im pretty sure theres no HP difference, just features on the interior and the exterior of the car(not positive though, someone back me up;) )

there are quite a few engines that would be good for the 240, i think the SR20DET is the most popular engine swap, either that or the RB series engines...im sure your 240 will more than satisfy you with one of the engine swaps i mentioned above....but like former_240_s14 said, try goin to the 240 general section on these forums and look at the faq for 240s while your there, also the search button is also very helpful when you have a question;)

no horse power difference

the se came with whitle gauges, spoiler, optional 5lug wheels, optional abs and lsd, and spoiler. thats all i can remember

the normal base model le came with the normal 155hrse, 160 ft.lb. of torque, rwd motor.

don't throw out the option of f/i because of a s14 with the original motor. go to the 240sx forums, then look at turbo ka-t forums. as i said, do some research, you have no idea of all the possibilities, hell, neither do i

I had a 90 300zx NA and it was awesome. It was pretty fast and handled great but I only got 15mpg in the city and 25 on highway. That didn't matter much to me when gas was $1 and I was in high school. Also the interior of the 300zx is a dream. Everything is right were it should be.the 300 is an absolute great car cannot go wrong. I just bought a 1998 240sx with only 28000 miles (I lucky). I searched forever to buy this car and I have been very pleased on first impressions. The 240 handles great almost no body roll. That low end torque is awesome. And getting 30 mpg is a lot cheaper on my wallet than 15. When I first sat in the 240 it was like I was back in my 300 all over again. The one thing I liked about both cars is no one has them very unique. But I would go with the 240sx at this time. I Like the looks of the 240 better and with a SR or RB swap or a turbo you would be getting the almost the same power of the z. Plus the 240zx weights about 600 lbs Less.

If you got any another Q’s hit me at [email protected]

Just my opinion of a guy who as owned both

I really believe I'm going to purchase a 240SX....I think I'm going to go for the S14 because I like the styling and I really don't like the flip up lights. I guess it's way to early to think about modding it....hopefully I can find a nice one with low miles. So to make is S14 Silvia would you just buy a S14 front clip or whats the deal with those?....if it's stock 150HP how hard is it to get to 200, 250, or 300HP?information on front clips would help....also is a S14 JDM conversion bolt on or is there a lot of fabrication?
