Hi all,

New to the site. Just picked up a 1999.5 Pathfinder that has a couple of issues.

- The steering wheel shakes when I go over a bump or a pothole at higher speeds.

- Heater isn't working too well and seems like a cold breeze right in the middle console.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

Check your coolant level and have cooling system bled to get rid of bubbles, and air pockets. Have steering rack checked and all linkages inspected to make sure they aren't loose.

my Blazer had a coolant leak for a short time, the repair place said I needed a new heater core, I couldn't believe it so I kept piddlin' around, bleeding the air out and eventually it works perfect. It may just be air causing the water not to circulate in your heater core. I'm sure your temperature is reading that the coolant is hot, correct?

If the coolant hasn't been changed, you may want to do it now and flush everything out good. Run clean water through it, keep doing it until you don't get any hit of rust or murky water coming out. Then refill with 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water.

Agree, except that part about the fluid mix. Put in what the mfg says to put in. Not all coolant is created equal and some coolant won't mix well with other types.

Do the flush and fill first. If that doesn't cure your heat problem, then you may need more expensive repairs.
