Post

I've been lurking on the board for a while and until now have not needed to post anything. First let me say that I have learned a great deal and appreciate the wisdom shared.

To the point! I own a 2001 Qx4 with about 100,000 miles. It's in pretty good shape and I love the vehicle. The SES light came on the other day and I brought it to O'Reiley's so I could "pull the codes" which I now know to do. I got 1145 twice, which I have learned is the VTC sensor, a relatively common problem. I have read all of the post I can find on this as to educate myself on the issue.

Here are my problems: 1. I would like to do the work myself but I am not sure where I can buy the sensors. 2. I am not sure how to do the work, although I have seen that it is supposedly.

The mechanic quoted me $400 for the job, which seems a bit steep according to the posts I have read. Some direction would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome aboard!!

http://www.courtesyparts.com/M..._Code=I think you can buy the VTC sensor for 65 bucks -- I'd call them and verify that it'll work for you. I don't know where they're located at, however.

If you'd like a FSM for your ride, visit http://www.phatg20.net (you'll need WinRAR to extract these ... you can get that at: http://www.rarlab.com/ or let me know, and I'll convert to a zip file)

Direct download for 2001 FSM: http://phatg20.net/modules.php...d=220Direct download for 2001.5 FSM: http://phatg20.net/modules.php...d=221

Hopefully another member has done this before (Well, not hopefully... I'd never wish the need to replace a part on anyone )

Yeah its a nice easy repair, I replaced the sensor and solenoid in about 30-45 mins. I think I paid $150 for both, it was $50 for the sensor and $100 for the solenoid.

Thanks for the welcome and for the help.

I called Courtsey. Looks like they want $130 for it as well. Makes me wonder in the infiniti vs. nissan makes a difference. In any case thanks for the help.

But another question has been raised. How do I know the difference between 2001 Qx4 & 2001.5 Qx4. I did not know such a beast existed.

the only difference in infiniti vs. nissan is the name. better name, higher price, same parts.
