Car: 1989 Nissan 240SX, needs work

Post

bought a 1989 Nissan 240SX on impulse and screwed myself because the frame rails are rotten right through! Now I do not want to get rid of it, I would like to fix it and get it on the road. It is a coupe and it is ALL apart. I have the engine and transmission out. The doors, front and rear bumpers, hood and hatch are all out. the interior is completely bare, its all in my basement. I have just replaced the floors and want to fix the frame rails, ANY SUGGESTIONS, OR REFERENCES. Thanks a million!

first off our cars have sub frames and they do very little.......

but if the rust has eaten through the frame you are screwed.....the rust is firmly in control. you could try and box the frame or just weld some metal up there....but as said before.....the rust is firmly in control

the only thing I can tell you is to go do some research on car restoration. Unibody cars are hard to do resto projects on because once rust takes hold, it's hard to cut out the problem area and replace it without compromising the structural integrity of the body.
