Hi guys,

As you can see i'm new to this forum as well as owning a Rogue. My wife and I just purchased a 2010 Rogue S AWD with 44700 miles. Thing is in mint condition and has everything we were looking for. Our problem is, after driving it for a few days we noticed a burning smell, almost like oil burning. Before we drove it home the car dealership did clean it all out and gave it a oil change. Does anyone have advice on what this burning smell could be? Is it normal or should we be concerned?

Thank you in advance for any answers.

Welcome! I'd say the greasemonkey that did the oil change slopped some oil on the engine block. It'll burn off after awhile.

+1, this is a probable reason. Look under the hood and see if you see oil around the oil fill cap or by the air filter.
If you see some oil, you can clean it up with a rag or if there's not much, it'll burn off as Rogue One said.

While you're there, check the oil level on the dipstick with the engine cold and parked on level ground.
(In case you didn't notice oil, you can at least note the oil level and if you still smell burning oil, you can re-check the level periodically to see if it's dropping, this might signal burning or a hidden leak).

+1

last Sunday, it was bitterly cold out, and i added some oil t my car. my cold, dry, hands allowed the bottle of oil to slightly slip in my grip. that slippage allowed about 2 table spoons of oil to spill out of the bottle, and around the cylinder head cover, which then leaked it down the engine block. my car has smelled like dog poop for about 5 days now lol. its gonna take some time- but it will burn off. in the mean time, keep an eye on your oil dip stick/level
