Hey there. I have been lurking around for some time and thought I'd finally join! Seems like a really cool forum. Anyways, I have an '07 G35x and I was wondering if you guys can help me out modding it. I have approx. $1500 to play around with and thought I'd put it into the G. So, I'm debating between:

-rims-exhuast-spoiler-intake

I've researched the Fujita and Stillen intake, however, which one is better? Does the Fujita come with heat shields? Are intakes worth it (performance wise) or just used mainly as a noise maker?

As for exhaust, I've come across the Stillen exahust. Does anyone have it on their G? Pros/Cons?

As for rims, I was searching for M45 sport rims but it seems to go a tad over my budget . Does anyone know where I can get decent rims + what dimensions should I be looking for (offset, etc.)? I want 19".

Spoiler, I don't fancy the OEM one, so I came across the Stillen lip spoiler which seems pretty decent. Are there any other brands of spoilers out there?

Obviously I can get all the mods I want with the $1,500 budget, so how can which mods should I get?

Thanks

Most people around here have the JWT pop charger w/ a z-tube... Most have a stillen exhaust as well.. they'll come around here soon and tell you alot more than i could. i would prefer the pop charger for your first mod imho

Welcome to you! This is indeed a great community. As for mods, you can do yourself a great favor by visiting this part of the forum:

zerothread/299288

What you choose first out of,-rims-exhuast-spoiler-intake...

will depend largely on what you want to accomplish first,

-looks-sound-rice (J/K)-performance

Good luck on your ride down the slippery slope!

Welcome! Like the guys said, your mods will depend on your taste. Personally, I would go with performance mods first. Do the PopCharger and exhaust. Decent rims will cost much more than 1500...

Search the forum for posts on the Fujita and Stillen for more info.

Welcome to Nico and an excellent choice in vehicle I might add!! If you want an intake you have to choose between the Fujita or Stillen - JWT does not make a pop charger for our cars.....yet. The Fujita does not have a heat shield but they are currently working on one. If the lack of a heat shield is a concern, then Stillen in the way to go.

Hope that helps!

Welcome to the G side.

To answer your questions

Intake : Stillen more of a stock looking with heat shield. There is 2 different edrsion of it short pipe long pipe. Fujita not so stock looking. I say they are close to the same performance.

Exhaust: My buddy have it on his. Same year as your and mine. Sounds really good but in performance wise can't feel much of a difference. We pulled couple of times to compare but can't see any difference. Surprisingly. But the sound of it is just a mussic to the ears.

Rims are really make a huge differences on your car. The visual appeal can change drasticaly. It all depends what color is your car.

here is a website with some wheels

http://www.weds.co.jp/products/index.html

I assume you know you can't go with staggered. AWD system doesn'tlike it.

Spoiler yes Stillen is pretty good but there is some een better

check these out

I'd probably would go for the intake and some nice spoilers and save up some money to change the exhaust.

Also you should check out ebay for set of rims. (M45). Sometimes people change the stock rims and they sell it for decent price. Couple of weeks ago I saw on the Kijiji a set of rims with tires and sensors with them for 1000. The tires had 3000 km on.

here is a good tool to calculate your offset

Haha wow thanks guys! I'll post pics tonight :D.

One more thing, suppose if I do end up getting an intake, can that void my warranty? I read a post on this site and it said that it may void if I mess up the MAF(?) sensor I believe?

Hello Hullio! Welcome to Nicoclub! You'll find our past threads to be very helpful in deciding what mods you want to add to your new beast. Congratulations on the new purchase... I'm sure you're going to love the X. Great car! You can certainly get most of your mods for $1500, but the kicker is going to be the rims... as you may know, rims can start from Free (What the factory gives you) all the way up to tens of thousands of dollars... the sky's the limit with rims.

Check out some of our previous posts on these subjects and let us know if you have any questions or opinions. We LOVE pics, so be sure to post them up.

I've personally done a few minor modifications. I installed the Fujita Short Ram intake and absolutely LOVE it! You're pretty much going to get the same performance out of the Fujita as the Stillen, but for less money. Sure it doesn't look stock, but it sounds great!

I also added the paddle shifters recently... check out the thread...zerothread/318082

I also added an aftermarket spoiler which is close to OEM, but still a knock off... zerothread?id=317786

I really like both mods, but do your homework before you commit to anything...

Good luck and keep us posted.Dave

Here's the deal with warranties. If the mod you do causes damage to the car, then that particular part (the one damaged) is NOT covered. However, it is up to the dealer to prove that the aftermarket part caused the damage. Now, lets say that you put on a supercharger and your power seat malfunctions; you will still have full warranty on the seat. But, lets say you blow a rod out of your block with a supercharger installed; the engine would NOT be covered under the factory warranty.

Hope this helps! Oh and I've never heard of simple bolt on mods causing any problems in these cars. Just be careful when handling the MAF sensor for an intake mod, as it is very delicate.

Awww man that's abuse! I'm going to report you to CPS (Car protective services)

I can hear her little teeth chattering from here... Get that baby in a garage and fast! Feed her a nice warm bowl of 5w30 and check her temperature regularly... If her cold cranking amps fall too low, then throw a nice warm car cover over her. If she doesn't show any signs of improvement by morning then put about 50cc's of HEET in the gas tank. I'll be your doctor on call and Bob (rn79870) will be your nurse if you need anything.

You don't want that newborn to come down with a nasty case of Infinitiluenza!

J/K Glad to see the new car!

Enjoy her and stay warm!Dave

No not the CPS! lol Well actually I was driving in the snow storm, coming home from my cousins house. It was my first bad weather experience (i'm 17) and the AWD performed 100% a-ok! When I got home (around 2am) I took pics. then parked it in the garage. As I was leaving in the morning, again i took some pics. haha.

Damned youngsters!!! Your parents need to take away your Gs and make you drive civics like the rest of us (except the Mustang buffs who are so old that civics weren't around when they were kids).

I have extensively modified my G with chrome license plate frames. The thin kind that reduce weight and thereby add to the acceleration of the car. It has been thoroughly washed several times and waxed as well.

W@tch out for AZG35 though. Here is one of his baby pictures.

There Bob goes again bragging about his modifications... just show everyone your fancy license plate frame... He's been talking about how proud he is of it for weeks, so it's time to show off that beauty!

How about a 401k plan or a 2007 IRA if you have not already done so? You'll thank me in 25 years.
