newbie LSD question

Okay I just recently started looking into VLSD's. i have a 97 240sx with ABS but the canadian 240sx's with ABS dont' come with VLSD as it was optional. my question is if i find a s14 VLSD do i just get the mechanic to open up my pumpkins and put it in? or did s14's with VLSD come with different sized pumpkins?

i'm pretty sure they have the same size pumpkin, but i would think it would be easier to just swap the pumpkin with it instead of taking the diff out.

yea i think it would be easier too, but 80% if vlsd's i see is people taking out their differential and selling it as is because they've upgraded to a kaaz or nismo.
