Hello all. I'm brand new to this forum and brand new to Infiniti ownership. Well, actually, it's my wife who's brand new - as it's her that I bought our '03 G35 sedan for. We're having our first child in December and it was time for her to give up the Mitsubishi Eclipse - but we certainly weren't about to go the 'soccer-mom' minivan route. The G35 was an easy decision. She loves the styling, and I love the fact the the engine has made Wards Top-10 list since it hit the scene. Can't argue with perfection!

Anyway, we live in Michigan (where there has not been a front-bumper license plate requirement for the past 30 years or so) but bought the car in Virginia Beach - where there IS such a requirement. The previous owner didn't hold onto the front licence plate bumper cover and I cannot find a second-hand one much of anywhere (eBay, salvage yards, etc.) I don't want to pay the $98 the stealership wants for one. And I'd prefer not paying the $75 I've seen it offered for on other websites either.

Does anybody out there have one (in excellent condition) that they can sell me? Preferably white, but if not, then I'll just have it painted.

Thanks a ton, and I look forward to gaining lots of insight from everyone here in the coming years. From the '91 Integra I used to own to the '93 Lexus SC400 I drive now, I've done all my own work/repairs/maintenance. From head gaskets and valve-stem seals to control arm bushings and tie-rods to alternators, radiators, power-steering pumps and door handles. Anything I can do myself I'll usually do. At this stage in my life I prefer the loss of convenience to the loss of my hard-earned money (paying someone to do the work for me).

Not to at all disparage those who have work done by others (or even done by the dealer for that matter). Because someday I too will grow weary of being the grease-monkey I am and just let the professionals have at it. But that day is a little ways off.

Thanks again!

Hi,

The thing is if you buy factory bracket you will have to drill your bumper. If your bumper is not drilled already, get the stillen one. It's probably less then factory and does not require any drilling.

Look here:http://www.stillen.com/product...202DR

I'll get that as soon as someone pulls me over

Thanks, Slobo7x, but I think you mis-interpreted my question. I'm not looking to put a license plate on (the front bumper), I'm looking for the bumper facia (plate/piece/cover/whatever) that came with the car from the factory BEFORE being taken off in order for a plate to be mounted.

Michigan doesn't require front license plates. All I want is my beautiful front-end restored back to how it was before the previous owner yanked the bracket cover to install a plate.

There appears to have been a bracket COVER that gets removed before a plate can be attached. This is the piece I'm looking for.

Thanks.

Welcome to NICO!

Your best bet is to check out the junkyards for one...I'm sure you can find a cover for less than the dealership price. You could also get an aftermarket front bumper...

Thanks, drpaul, but you've proven one of my favorite pet-peves exactly. This is why I avoid, AT ALL COSTS, the stealership. $104.40 for a piece of molded plastic the size of a Franklin Planner (with connecting bolts or not) is a freakin' rip-off! We're not talking carbon-fiber here, just plastic.

Did you ever get a firm answer on this? I am also looking for a cover too and I'd hate to pay the dealer a c-note for a little piece of plastic. IN MA you are required to have a front plate for inspection but I'm willing to take the chance to gain a few style points. I have been struggling with my searches online.
