Hi,I new to the forum, and i'm wondering if anyone could run a Carfax for me the car is a 2000 Q45 A.E. The seller is the orginal owners and seems very honest. I would like a Carfax just to make sure there are no accidents. The VIN # is JNKBY31AXYM300528. My email address is [email protected]

Thanks in advance

Just a quick note:

You likely won't see any helpful responses to this, but not out of discourtesy. Carfax has taken to actively watching car forums for exactly these types of posts. They will cancel "unlimited" subscriptions if they think the customer handing out free carfaxes to other people. Makes it difficult for us to help each other out, unfortunately.

Sorry. Hopefully you have some luck anyway. Might be worth seeing if the seller will provide the carfax for you.

Worse than that cheap people who try to scam people/companies out of their money are not welcome here.

Are you not ashamed to ask publically for the World to see?

What difference is there between stealing, shopping lifting, and asking someone to do it for you?

Thanks for the reply guys. I am sorry to make such a issue with my request. In the past I have provided Carfaxs to other members on the several forums that I belong to when I had unlimited accounts. I am in no way trying to cheat wrong or defraud companies out of their profits. I am mainly trying to make sure my fellow member who love the car that we drive, and cherish find good deal on them. Most of the cars that I have own were cars that required special maintence and if not properly maintained would and could cost a new buyer alot to repair. Sellers will tell you anything to unload what they perceive as a headache. So I apologize if I offended anyone. Carfax or not i'm buying to Q

My two cents on Carfax. Carfax is almost worthless. I'll give you two specific examples.

1. An accident occurs. Driver 1 "Hey buddy are you okay, I didn't see you making that lane change there." Driver 2 "Yeah I'm fine. Hey, what do you say that we don't report this fender bender so our insurance premiums won't go up?" Driver 1 "Okay by me." So now Carfax has no accident on their report because it wasn't reported. Makes it hit or miss then.

2. Number of owners. This one is really quite stupid. There could be a "one-owner" vehicle where there were 4 drivers, who all have different driving habits, driving the car each with their own individual driving habits. Now that "one-owner vehicle" claim means diddly squat. Really not reliable at all if you think about it.

A thorough inspection is far superior to any vehicle history report. I would much rather pay a professional to inspect a potential purchase instead of relying on vehicle history reports of any kind.

I wish I thought of Carfax. Raking it in for providing essentially useless information.

Yeah, there are a lot of situations where a car can have "one owner" on paper but not in reality. A lot of families buy cars that go from new driver to new driver but the title is always in the parent's name. Carfax doesn't reflect that. That Civic with the single 40 year old owner may well have actually had 4 teenaged owners.

I've run carfaxes on a lot of my cars just for fun (including those purchased new). They definitely tend to leave a lot out.

I didn't even bother with a carfax for my LS.
