My fiance had this 92 240sx vert for the last 9 years, kept it in a garage and drove it sparingly since she didn't like convertibles and had another car to drive. Well, it had a couple of ignition coil replacements, the rear window, a used transmission replacement, an entire brake system, the brake light switch and the spark plug wires were chewed by something. Something was wrong with the top's locking latches and it rattles when going over bumps. So, I have this 93 Geo prism I used as a commuter car for my 1 hour drive to work for gas reasons and i didn't want the miles on my 05 Mustang GT. With the issues on the 240, we were going to sell it....then I drove it to work one day because I decided i wanted an automatic for driving in traffic. I was instantly hooked. Cool thing is I didn't have to pay for it, obviously, and I can sell the Geo and dump that money into the 240. I read up on the car and was excited to see the community of people that like to work on them like i do with my other car. The 240 is in great shape considering its age needs some TLC and here's where I start....

1) anyone know of a Nissan performance shop in Atlanta/Marietta GA?2) Those nasty door inserts are warped and popped off the staples like everyone else's i've seen...can I get new ones or can I get some other type of interior door replacement like maybe a jdm compatible?3)Recommended carpet supplier...carpet is torn in usual spot....4)Has the original top...will need one soon...any recommended suppliers?5)Recommended replacement struts or springs and sway bars?6)Replacement sun visors...new maybe

found a lot of useful info on here...love the site!

Sorry for long post...I have lots of questions but will save them for later...thanks for any information

Welcome

Most of what you are asking is in the FAQ section:zerothread/199318

1. I'm not sure of a shop in ATL.2. You could probably find used ones on here or in a junkyard. My driver's side was popping off and I had an interior guy fix it, looks fine. There are no JDM Verts like ours, the JDM Verts are different so a lot doesn't swap over. You can do a door swap or pillar removal (see the link above)

The rest should be covered in the link. Let us know of anything else you come up with or can't find.

New ones are no longer available. Repair by upholstery shop or coupe/hatch door conversion is your best bet.

Not sure new vert visors are still available. I paid for mine like $200 for both back in 2000. I'd re-wrap or try coupe or hatchback ones(if they fit).

Convertible sun visors are different from coupe/hatch. Anything vert specific parts are so expensive...

There is actually a pretty big 240 comunity in atlanta..

http://240atlanta.com

you can probably find some people close by who can help you with this stuff, or point you to some local shops.

Local boards like that are a GREAT place to trade parts too because most people will be close enough that you can buy sell and trade parts first hand instead of shipping... not to mention local get togethers etc...

I'm in New Hampshire and New England has a pretty close 240 community too. The only reason I know of the atlanta boards is that we have one guy who keeps moving between ATL and NE...

good luck and welcome to 240 ownership :D

Pullapart is your best source for parts for the doors, and i think theres one near you. But truthfuly i'd buy a whole new coupe doors. Might as well get the better look without the pillars there, and shave 80+ pounds while your at it. The convertibles are built like tanks. If you dont want to do that you can always but a pneumatic staple gun. Staple em back on after you've pealed off teh twead and recovered them.

As far as a new top these guys are the closest to OEM actualy same exactly. You cant beat em. http://www.convertibletopguys....t=757

Shocks and struts are really personal preference. Really depends on what you want to do with it. From the way you talk you just like driving it for the fun of it. I'd recommend getting some KYB AGX's they are gona be the best adjustable shocks for the car. If your more on a budget and arnt going to slam your car super low, the KYB GR-2's are nice.As far as springs, Eibach makes a good setup. Theres probably more experienced people here with springs on the 240 than me though. I run a coilover setup.

Good luck to you. Let us know how it turns out

Alright, hate to ask a stupid question, but how do you post pics on this site? I have some at Imageshack but can't figure out how to get them on here.

Just bought 400$ worth of nothing for the car. Some door strikers, front bumper, rear bumper and steering wheel logos...parts guy said that the coupe sun visors would fit but that the right side visor for coupes was discontinued and there was only 1 left in the country at a dealer in cali...ordered that one and special ordered one for the left side from Japan. Hoping they look ok. Thanks for the info everyone...I have a lot to learn.

You've got a very nice vert there! What some of us would give to have a car in that condition just fall into our lap. Good luck with everything and remember that you have a lot of people here to answer questions for you! Welcome to Nico!

Do you know how many times I heard that from the dealership? I just hate it. I think I've bought at least 10 different last parts in the U.S./world.

BTW, interior is gorgeous. Very well kept.

Wow.. beautiful convertible!!!

I too am impressed with the condition of the interior especially. The exterior is nice as well, but the interior stands out compared to how most 'verts fall apart inside.

Ok, found a place that sells replacement glass for the mirrors and ordered the Weapon coolant overflow tank and now I need carpet. Can anyone recommend a vendor....something that is of good quality?
