Hi folks. Just found this forum and am thankful for it. I hope to gain alot of knowledge from here. I just recently got back into a 720 after being out of one since `85. I absolutely loved my 1st 720. It was a King Cab that I traded my `80 Z28 in for. I had to have that truck, it was an `84 and was awesome!!!! I was able to locate the one and only pic that I have of it.

Well, ever since getting rid of it, the `84  , I`ve been trying to get back into one with what my wallet would allow. About 2 months ago I seen one, an `85, for sale locally and got sidetracked before I could even check the price. When I got around to go check the price it was gone. Well, as it turned out a friend of mine bought it and I gave him my little sob story lol. He said he`d sell it to me for what he got it for, $1500. I was all over it. Here`s what I got, see any resemblances?

It has 167,000 miles on the odo but runs like it has 16,700. Gets 24+ mpg as it sets. Needless to say, I`m a happy camper.

Holy balls your front bumper looks unsmashed! That's like the grail of 720s. Too bad it wasn't a King Cab like you had. But damn that bed is clean! Great start.

Do you have any plans for it? Also check the stickies and if you need anything out of a manual that doesn't take forever to type, I can throw it up from my book but alot of it is already in the sticky.

Thanks for the welcome. I agree, too bad its not the KC like I once had but hey I`m still in love with it. Back when I had the `84 another friend of mine had an `84 regular cab. His truck is the very reason why I traded the Z28 for mine. His was also the Orange Mist. We did alot of cruising side by side on Saturday nights. The first pic of the King Cab doesn`t show it but right after that pic was taken I installed a wing on the bed but removed it when I traded it. I was able to locate that very same wing but it needs a little attention but guess what, its gonna be on the `85 very soon ;)

I seen the stickies and will make good use of those. I gotta do ball joint replacement on it so that sticky will come in handy.

Got some more pics of it. The only REAL bad cosmetic damage there is on the driver side rear lower corner but its very fixable, not worried at all about that. The owner had back up into something. He replaced the bumper and did some rust stoppage stuff but only after the rust had started reeking havoc lol.

Super clean seat too

Looks like there was some window down driving, don`t know why really. The A/C works great in it.

Don`t understand the steering wheel cover choice but Orange and Blue goes good together in this part of the country, north Florida

Welcome! Good to have another standard cab short bed owner to swap stories with. These are really great trucks. Was your AC converted over or is it still R12?

Its been converted over. Its needs to be charged but golly lol the datblamed valves are waaaaay down there lol.
While I have someones attention here, the underhood mat, is it okay not use one? Reason why I ask is when I got the truck it leaked oil bad around the valve cover and the PCV was also plugged so oil pretty muck made its way around the engine compartment. Its all clean now with the exception of the mat, its soaked. Ideas anyone?
