I have 90 and i just installed a low milage ka24e and 5spd trans. 87k mileage.

I have all the vacuum lines hooked up, all sensors in and connected, and set of new ngk plugs.

also replaced the injector o-rings.

having some hard staring trouble

seems like i need to crank the egnine 4 or 5 times and on the 5th try i'll start and idle rough and shut off... so on the 6th try i'll start again this time and do the same thing as it did on the 5th try. BUTTT on the 7th try it'll start and idle out smooth at 900rpm and wont stall out anymore either so i take the car around for a few laps around the block and it drives fine too.. no power lose, nothing like that, it's all good once it's finally started and running, ildeing smooth, and not stalling on like the 7th try.

What could be wrong???

I got new ngk plugs and are gapped.

next i'm gonna do cap and rotor and if that doesn't fix it then new coil and plug wires.

So does it sound like a bad cap and rotor problem?

Also once i have it running have it warm up for 2 minutes and rev it some it'll back-fire sometimes and sometimes not and sometimes it'll back fire really loud but once the car gets fully warmed up and I take a few laps around the block it'll just sometimes make a little pop-pop sound or sometimes not at all..

sorry for long post and sorry if it sounds dumb.

It sounds as if you still have a vaccum leak and/or bad grounds and connections. Just check it all over again. Take a timing light and make sure its in time too...

Try out those things and post back.

i had a similar problem when i swapped in my low mileage kaE a few weekends ago it turned out to be a vaccum leak and a slipping alternator belt...it very well could be a temp sensor though i know with a bad temp sensor it will idle crappy and run rich
