Hey everyone, Wanted to say hey? I am new here, Also just picked up my first 240 '91. Its white.Looks good.Definately needs some TLC. Picked it up from some punk kid who didnt know what he had.Threw him a couple hundred bucks and drove away lol. Been browsing around trying to do my research and see what others preferences are and what they like to do to em..Ive been working on a ford probe 95, that ive had a while. But the 240 is like a whole nother beast. I am gonna wrap this up here by throwing out a few questions, looking forward to responses. Thanks in advance.

First? What is everyone using for spark plugs-as well as brand and weight oil w/filter?First thing to do is give this girl a serious tune up!

Also i think the clutch is gone but as i was just reading on here somewhere it may be the master or slave cylinder. heres diagnosis. It will not go into reverse at all, doesnt click into reverse--it just wont go also as i was driving it home i kept missing gears i thought cause i grinded every gear(yes i know how to drive stick lol) then i realized it when i downshifted into second it just wouldnt let me it was grinding away..would it be best to go ahead and install a new clutch or???

And any other tidbits of advise as far as modding and just upkeep throw em out there. thanks and sorry for such a long post.

It sounds like he knew he had a couple hundred dollars worth of piece of s*** 240sx like a kajillion other people. As long as the frame is good its pretty cheap and easy to replace stuff.

First, sounds like the car was beat to death.

Spark plugs are NGKs.... Oil... Depends on what you use and where you live. I use mobil 1 CLEAN 5000... Very awesome oil

Might wanna replace the transmission... the clutch pedal would fall to the floor if the cylinder is done

Sounds like you're shifting fine, it's just getting it into gear that's the problem. Your synchros are gone

get some pics up

what did you get for $200?

thanks us3rname. actually it runs fine its not a piece of sh@t, I am very excited about grabbing it off his hands. My thoughts 2 u r. If you feel that way about the 240sx then why r u wasting ur time leeching on this forum,I think u were looking for the honda forums right. And yes i know that oil and spark plugs is a cheap fix,im not mentally challenged.

I was just interested in what everyone elses preferences r.

Anyhow, fukin240..The clutch pedal itself feels good lot of pressure it just is grinding into gears and i could hear the clutch spinning while the pedal was disingaged,,then when it was engaged it went away.. i know this cause it happened to my probe before..I could hear it spinning or turning when i was in the driver seat.. i will put some pics up soon . Thanks for the advise fukin240.

lol thanks..no not quite yet.Probe is running strong still. fun to drive,So guys back to the transmission issue..if it is syncro's that are f'kd then maybe it would be better off getting a new transmission or would putting a new clutch in fix the problem..iam not great with trannys. the cluctch is not making a grinding noise while it is disengaged, u can hear just hear it like spinning--maybe its grinding, but if so its not grinding loud. then when u push the clutch in it goes away..driving and then i shifted it normally revved it a little then pushed clutch in and went to put into second and it kinda felt like it caught or grinded , then going from second to third really grinded ....??

Replace the transmission. While you are at it replace the clutch, flywheel and rear main seal Get a tune up and address any other mechanical or maintenance issues as well.

Welcome best advice i can give you is to replace the transmission..that way youre being as safe as possible with it. replace the clutch and anything else down there that will be easy to replace while you've got the transmission pulled.
