Got my 2009 G37X Sedan Today. It has 7k Miles and has navi,Premium Package, Illuminated kick Plate, Trunk Mat, Cargo Net and Splash Guards. It is Moonlight White with Wheat Interior. My car background. Traded my 2010 Dodge Crew Cab Hemi loaded with 3k on it for the G37. Before that I had a Pontiac G8, Mazda 6, GTO, Trans Am and Mazda 3 etc.

Drove the car home about 90 miles. Drove 85 most of the way. It just wanted to go that fast. :rotfl

I know that i just came out of a Truck that floated down the road with 390 HP.

My 90 Mile complaints:

1. Excessive road noise in the cabin

2. The seat where your Butt sits felt very hard. Like the cusion was not dense enoughf or something.

3. At higher speeds there was a sort of humming noise/vibration. (Did not transfer into the steering wheel)

4. Very stiff ride. You can feel every joint in the road

5. Felt kind of wierd when you hit the truckers grove.

I know I have been in a truck for the last 11 Months but I have had plenty of performance based cars. This is my first Japaneese car that was built in Japan beside the Mazda 3 those are still made in Japan.

I am not trying to be negative because there is alot to like. Nav, Bose, Interior Build Quality, Engine, AWD, Handling and so on.

I am just wondering if there are any other G37 Sedan owners that have the same compliants or something else they don't like.

ps. I know that you can't judge a car in 90 miles. Just my first impressions

I own an FX35, but I had a recall and drove an 09 G37x as a loaner for a week. I drove it maybe 400 miles or so because the nearest dealer is 100 miles from me.

I noticed some of the same things.

1) Excessive road noise (maybe the tires are loud?)

2) The seat did feel less comfortable than my FX35 or my 92 Maxima. Maybe I have those "broken in" better haha

3) did not notice this

4) I like the stiff ride. That's the trade off for good handling. This car handles awesome compared to a Maxima, Altima, Accord, etc. My Maxima has a lot of suspension mods and it still can't work it like the G37x.

5) ?? you mean the "ruts" on the freeway? I guess that's what happens when you aren't driving a truck. I get that in my FX, but no so much in my Maxima. Maybe it's the width of the tires? I forgot to check what size the G37 tires were.

I also noticed that the transmission really slows the car down when you take your foot off the accelerator. It was significant compared to my AWD FX or actually any automatic I have ever driven -- fwd, rwd or awd.

I loved the acceleration and the handling. I live out in the country and took it for a little drive and had a blast.

Overall, I really like the car and you are lucky to get what sounds like an awesome deal on a great car.

Yes I too have a new 2010 G37x and some of your complaints are valid in my opinion. There is significant road noise, especially on rough surfaces. Its not just tire noise, but also some suspension noise that becomes pronouced at higher speeds. I also have an air leak in my right rear fixed glass....should be easy to fix. In my opinion the seats are comfortable and the ride is actually pretty decent for a "sports sedan". I really have not driven on grooved highways yet. One thing for sure...there is no such thing as a perfect car.

I got 12k off list on the Dodge. It listed for 42k and I paid 30k owed 29k and the dealer showed me 28,500 against the $29,900 G37. I buy trucks new when I can get 11k or more off list. If you buy new cars you will loose big money. I found that out a long time ago. So I look for low milage 1onwner used cars. Look at the 2009 G37X paid 29,900 with 7k miles. A new one would have cost me 39k. The car is worth 27k wholesale.
1. Excessive road noise in the cabin

You mentioned that you were driving at 85mph for a large portion of the trip. You have to expect excessive wind and road noise from within the cabin when traveling at those speeds. If you still feel that the road noise is excessive when traveling at typical city speed limits, then you could either replace the tires on your G37 (If they are still the OEM tires, then replacing them with better tires will be a WORLD of difference when it comes to noise) and/or dynamatting the entire car.
I have been in other cars at 85 that did not have that much cabin noise at 85.
2. The seat where your Butt sits felt very hard. Like the cusion was not dense enoughf or something.
I've never had the issue in any G35/G37 models that I've been in. Give it a few weeks to allow the seat cushion to mold to your body's shape if you still feel that the seat is too dense. If that still doesn't work then consider having the cushion repacked.
The only time I noticed this is when I was in the car for almost two Hours.
Wouldn't you have felt this before you purchased the car and when you said everything was perfect with it, though?
I did not notice the seat on my test drive. It was not a problem until about an Hour in the car. My test drive was about 6 miles.

3. At higher speeds there was a sort of humming noise/vibration. (Did not transfer into the steering wheel)
Again, replacing the OEM tires will make a large difference in the car's drivability/feeling/noise. Infiniti does not have a good track record when it comes to putting quality tires on their cars (finally changing with the new M37/56 where they have actually put expensive tires on the car!) and replacing them after purchase have become a typical occurrence with new Infiniti owners. Also, when you state that you felt a "vibration" at the higher speeds, where did you feel the vibration if it wasn't in the steering wheel? The car itself? If so, depending on the wind conditions and vulnerability of the car to such conditions because of the road's design these could have been the reason for the vibrations in the car. The G37, while being as aerodynamic as it is, is not meant to travel 85mph+ on a flat road under windy conditions without being subject to some vibrations or movement.
It was windy that Day and I could not isolated where it was coming from. It was really more of a humming/light vibration. Could have just been the wind and the speed.
4. Very stiff ride. You can feel every joint in the road

Deflate the air in all four tires to be at 30PSI. This will soften the ride of the car and allow for a less imposing ride over such "joints". Also, replacing tires will allow for a softer ride.
Good ideal!! The dealer did add Nitrogen. Would this make any diffrence?

5. Felt kind of wierd when you hit the truckers grove.[/b]
I don't see an issue in this? The "truckers grove" or emergency lane is supposed to call attention to drivers who accidently drift into that lane, doing exactly what you are complaining about.
I have had other cars that had wider tires that would this, The Vetts were real bad with the wide directional tires.
I know that you can't judge a car in 90 miles. Just my first impressions

Then why are you already listing it for sale? :slap:
Good question. I might take it down. I would like a 2011 Gt Mustang vert but there are not any used ones out there at a good price and than I would have to buy a junker 4wd for snow. The more I drive the G the more I like it. My wife loves it. She said she would take the G and give me her Mazda 3. I passed on that deal. :)
Thanks for all the great feedback,

regarding seat issue,I assume this was not the G37Xs sedan that has the sport seats?

regarding tires the G37Xs comes with 18" rather than 17" tires could that have made a difference?

Several of your objections could be due to the OEM tires. Suggest you hit the TireRack web site and use their Tire Decision Guide to look for different ones. Make Ride/Noise Comfort your top priority. You will lose some performance with such tires, but that is secondary to being able to tolerate the car.
