After 2 months of car research and decision making, I joined the ranks of G35 owners. Hell yeah! I don't pick it up until this Thursday because the dealer is fixing some paint issues and making the changes I ordered. It will be unique as an '06 with an '05 spoiler... Very cool. I also had the wheels pulled off and sent to my chrome guy for some "extra shine".

Any good links I should follow first? I'm going to try to keep the hood closed but it's going to be hard. I love to wrench.

Make sure you post some pics!! I'd love to see what the 19s look like chromed. Good idea on the spoiler...did they charge you extra for that?

As far as mods, do the intake/exhaust first. It will keep you busy for a couple of weekends anyway, and the sound/power increase is worth the wrenching!

The charge was the same for an 06 spoiler. I got the car at invoice so I let them have their margin in the labor. I paid for the chroming directly at the chromer. I send alot of motorcycle stuff to them. The dealer charged me to pull the tires off and put everything back together... no problem.

I think I'll break it in for a few thousand before tearing into it. somebody asked about that voiding the warranty. Do you know if it does?

Pics are forthcoming.

Good deal on the spoiler, I didn't think they'd do that!!

There has been a lot of discussion lately on warranty. Basicly if an aftermarket part causes a problem with a stock component, it will void the warranty on that part, not the entire car. So simple intake/exhaust mods are fine. Adding a turbo/supercharger is another matter.

Well-said, Joe!

To add to that, the dealer or manufacturer must PROVE that the aftermarket part was to blame for the failure of a covered component...

The key is to be smart with your mods.

I recommend the 5/16" Motordyne plenum spacer, a Z-tube, and some lightened or underdrive pulleys.

All inexpensive, effective and stealthy mods. You'll see a net gain of 15-25 hp.

Welcome aboard!

I like the sound of an additional 15 to 25 ponies for such simple mods.

Thanks!

Here's what the OEM 19"s look like after chroming. Did that on my '06 G.Note: This pic was from an outing with another car club for a model photoshoot. The girl isn't with me nor does she come with the car.

Where in Austin can I get the chroming done and how much does it cost?

No where in Austin... I used Chrome Pros Plating in Corpus Christi. Chrome Masters in Tennessee is a good one as well.
