Newbie - Few Starter Questions

Hi everyone, had a good read through the forum and all the wealth of information here is invaluable.

I have just came into a small cab Datsun 720, L18 Engine, Manual(coloumn shift), benchseats) Ute in very good condition, only slight amount of surface rust anywhere on the body, a bit or paint peelings, but seems mechanically sound.

It is now sitting in my workshop slowing being taken apart and being prepped for a respray. Eventually it is my aim to drop in a much better engine; but I won't open that can of worms at the moment!

My questions relate to the Windshield and Rear Glass. I need to remove them so I can do the paint respray properly.

The seal in the windshild has started to split. The local windsheild shop would be happy to refit the screen for $50 + new seal at aprox $100. I have found them on a US website for $2-$15 but they will not ship to Australia. Does anyone on know any dealers in Australia where I can get these seals but not the huge $100 price compared to the US price.

The seal in the flat main rear window is in very good condition. Is there a way to remove the screen without damaging the seal. The windshop shop said it could be done for....$50 again. I'd rather remove it myself if possible.

I look forward to anyones advice.

as far as i know there's no good way of removing it without damaging it

and being in america i have no way knowing any shops where you are... it sucks they won't ship to you down there!

Do you have a friend or family in America? You can set up a sky box and have the company ship to their address in the states and let them ship using the sky box to Australia.
