i am new to nico and s13's in general i guess. my brother has been working on his s13 for a while now and recently ran into some bad luck and can't finish the build. "Selene" (92 240sx hatch se w/sr20det swap) really means alot to him and i didn't want to see it fall into the hands of a stranger after i watched him pour his blood and sweat into her. so i bought selene from him and promised i would finish her. she needs some love to get out onto the road for the first time and i thought this would be a good place to go for some advice. this is the build thread my brother started for her quite some time ago where you can find pics and more details.
post5075066.html#p5075066. as she sits now the motor is having some trouble. after a closer inspection we found that there is no oil getting to the top end (nothing coming from "squirters" in the valve cover) and it's making a knocking/ticking sound. i am nervous to run it for too long being oil starved. my brother installed a digital oil pressure gauge during the swap and spliced it into the factory fitting. it's not reading any oil pressure at all. we removed the oil pan to inspect the screen/pickup tube for damage/blockage and it all looked fine. i am wondering if it's the oil pump or maybe some sort of blockage in one of the oil passages. has anyone had a problem like this before? or is the oil pump known for going bad?? my brother had the motor imported by jsa motors and the're not being very helpful. from what i have read the oil pump is located in the front cover and is crankshaft driven. anyone ever had to put one in? any help or idea's would be greatly appreciated. i really want to do this for my brother, he's done alot for me and im hoping i can help return the favor. Selene means alot to him and any help you can give to help get her on the road would be awesome. thanks for reading..
