I'm new to the 240sx scene and while I've been doing research on these forums, I've noticed that long time posters are jumping all over noobs who ask questions (though some of the questions have already been discussed and beaten to death). I think a Newbie Board would help out so that people won't be hesitate to post their quesions in fear of being lynched. And since most of the newbie questions are the same, the answers will be in a central location rather than scattered through several boards. Just my $0.02

I think you are right... it sometimes gets a little scary in here even for me. I don't have many post but I have been a member for almost 2 years now!

(time goes by so fast)

Anyway, I think that your idea is good, however in a noob forum most questions wont be answered or answered correctly because it is full of noobs.

so they will venture out of the noob forums.

I think a better answer is to go through some rigourus brain washing after 3 to 6 months... make you humble again.

Its an idea worthy of consideration.

Or better yet the old timers can be nicer.

Our club used to always be about being nice to everyone even ( maybe especially?) newbies.

In part thats why we were so successful..

sounds like a waste of bandwith, just search, i mean you find anwsers instantly instead of having to get flamed and then maybe get the anwser.

although im usually a smartass on any forum im on, i will still try and anwser their question so when people who do search find a topic they are looking for it has some actual info instead of just a bunch of people flaming a guy(hope that made sense)

i dont think having newbs answering other newbs questions is a good idea. having someone give info to others when they have no clue what the hell theyre talking about...

a blind person leading a blind person is going to get themselves hurt.

but we all could be a lot nicer, but they all could do a lot of searching too. maybe in the email when you join their should be a section about serching first because this forum has been around so long many answeres are already there. there might be somthing like that already because i have herd that before on this board somwhere.

I think some of you guys may be misunderstanding the concept of a Newbie Board. Noobs post questions in there, but they aren't the ones who usually answer them. On other forums I've gone to for years, some of the veterans swing through there from time to time to answer questions. If the veteran didn't feel like actually typing out a response, they would post a link of the thread that discusses the question (this is already done with some posts on here). Noobs should be able to distinguish the difference between a veteran and another first time poster by simply looking at the post count and account creation date under the poster's name. How do they know to do this? By putting a sticky in the Newbie Board that states all of this.

I understand the "Use the Search" responses from a lot of people, but sometimes when you're starting out, it's hard to know what to put as the exact search criteria to find the information. Remember, the search function isn't foolproof (no pun intended).

Make the search button big so that noobs can see it easier. When i started looking at this forum, it took me a while to find the search button.

Novel idea....but NICO members treat noobs way better than any other forum I've been on.

Yeah That's not a good Idea, no one is going to look up on the post because they know that there gonna be questions that could have been answered with a simple search. Nico is Great to noobies IMO. The replies my be sarcastic but what do you expect when you ask a question that a simple search could have found the answer. I know that If I know the answer I will chime in and let them know whats up but tell them to search anyways even If I tell them whats up. Hey everyone was a Nobie at one time or another (I think). I just sucks when everyone ask questions that they obviously didn't do a search for.

The search button is tucked up now to the extreme top right of the page. This is why you cant see it if you dont know the site.

If it was centered and a little more noticable, there might not be so many problems or the need for a "training forum".

Also, If at the same time, newbies would stop posting old questions answered, the search function would not be such a pain to navigate through all the repeated threads. Maybe a re-structure of the search function would be more advantageous.

I think the problem is with people see a moded 240, think that it's super coo (which it is), make an account here, and 5 minutes later ask how to make their 240 fast and what is the difference in the engines etc. Even though there are "READ THIS FIRST" stickies, people seem to totaly ignore them. I agree though, the search button/function are not the greatest. I rarely it unless I have read a post before and know exactly what to search for. Regardless, there should be a certain amount of time where a new person doesn't post at all but just reads. Unless of course they just bought a 240 in which case most of us want to see pictures.

ok... lets start a new thing... nobody post a redudent question... nobody! Lets see how much longer the forum will last? It will turn into a recepie exchange forum!

I mean just this morning I see 9 new post, 8 are questions that have been asked a million time and the other is about a song. Remove the redundent questions.. the questions that you will find answers to with the search button and your left with one new post.... about a song.

common guys, the search button is great and it works and I am sure allot of you guys use it but most newbies are confused, scared to do the wrong thing and sometimes what they need is a voice that shows them how to do it... not a search button.

Bah, these guys will pounce if given the opportunity - Makes them feel better.

NICO folks are teh kewl.

Just a reminder, be cool to the newbs.
