Newbie 240/2jz swap

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Hey Guys of course this my first post. I would like to say sup to you guys and introduce myself. My name is Jeremiah and I have a 92 fastback and Im doing a 2jz swap ( I know its not a nissan motor just want something different). My plans for the car are around 650-750 rwhp. Im using Tech2Motorsports motormounts/driveshaft/and crossmember. As the progress goes ill post more. Hoping to have a good bit of it done by this summer before my new addition to the family comes so I really dont have much time.

Ill post pics as things come in and as parts go on. If you guys need any s13 parts let me know. Motor runs, tranny, interior, are all good. I got really lucky with my purchase. I bought the car for 500 and the owner told me it didnt run. I hooked everything back up started it on first try but something was acting up. I then looked at all hosing and stuff and saw the fuel lines were leaking very badley so. i replaced to fuels lines. Guess what it runs like a dream now. This is the ka motor not 2j...lol. Thats a little history of my car.

Again I look forward to being a help or getting help and meeting/ talking to some of you guys.

Jeremiah

there is a toyota tech local that swapped the 2jz into an s30 after he totalled his supra, and at the SEZ shootout last year there was a 2jz swapped s30 running low 10's...on radials!

Thanks guys for the welcome. Yits going to be a fun swap and there are about 6 or so here in ATL but none using the mounts im using. I have seen one 240 run low 9s and high 8s with his setup. But we will just have to see. Im not trying set any records just want a car that is a blast to drive. In deed though it will be quick.

No worries about installed a 2JZ, this is the place to discuss doing it. The more non-nissan the better in Hybrids.

Welcome to NICO man...

I haven't helped out to much on 2JZ tuning, I'd love to though. I have done a few RB26 build ups while I was on Okinawa. They are pretty close to the same as far as design goes...aside from the 26 being better in every way...lol, jokin.

I've seen a couple 2JZ swaps into the S13, both of which did the friggin HULA when they were tuned.

Sounds like the complete oppisite of me. I've helped on 1 RB25 build and 2 BIG supra builds 2 of them were 3.4L stroker motors and one ran a GT47-80 the other ran a GT47-88 the other was a built 3.0L with a sound performance kit

the intake and exhaust being opposite fo the RB can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on application

Well with the exhaust being on the opposite side of the steering i can run a 4in dp no problem and pretty much put w/e turbo id like but i not doing anything to serious just around 700-1000 somewhere in there. The downpipe will take the stock routing so I can either mate it to a blitz nur spec/ apexi gt/ etc. Intake will be custom but its just a pipe with a filter.

how much did the swap cost you. just the engine swap without any other performance mods. also where did u get the motorset/front clip cause im looking to do the same thing only hopin to reach the 850+hp range. those engines have been known to reach well over 1000hp so go big or dont go at all

Yeah, I am interested in knowing a decent place to pick up the 2jz at. I read somewhere that they were considerably less expensive than the RB's....but when I looked, the 2jz was about 5 grand, and the rb was around 3.

Well the RB25 will be a decent match for the 2JZ...they both make tons of power. If your goals are under 500WHP then a RB25 will do you just fine. You'll just need a bigger turbo and fuel management. Basically the same exact mods you'd do to a 2JZ...

Both will make a tremendous amount of power on stock internals.

I assume you're putting a cage in the car? 'Cause it's definitely going to need some chassis bracing

Ebay has them for under 2500, I got my motor and trans for tech2. I bought everything in one pop. So, I made sure to get everything needed. Roll cage will be going in later down the road. I started this thread almost a year ago when the swap was about to start but life happened and never went anywhere. Friday parts start showing up and things will start kicking off finally for my long waited project. keep your eyes and fingers ready cuz the fun is about to begin.
