Pls help a newbi out: What's a rail flush and who does it for you? Dealer? Yourself? A partparticular kind of shop?

Also, when a post says "Have obdii codes printed or given to you", Are these codes present all the time?...or when the check engine light is on? Is this same as ECU codes?

Sorry if these are sumb questions, but I have read many posts and these are not clear to me, yet. Thanks for your reply.

1. A rail flush is a thing that hooks your fuel rail (basically your fuel injectors) to a cleaning solution.. At WOT your car sees 43.4 PSI of fuel pressure, and a fuel rail flush exposes the injectors to 50 or so PSI and a solvent, and it really cleans them out, and restores them to as new running condition, and gives them extra life.

Youll probably ask if youll notice a difference, and probably not. Consider it like a filter change, nothing youd notice. IF its real bad (clogged) it might be smoother, or maybe alitte better gas mileage, but outside that not much......

2. OBDII= On board diagnostics, Version 2. Your 92 and 95 both have OBDI, as OBDII didnt come out until 1996. You can check your ECU codes at home for free with a little labor, or you can have a dealer hook up a consult (hand held computer device) and it will tell you the codes. If you hvae a CEL then you will have codes, but you can have codes without a CEL (for instance the dreaded code 34, knock sensors)...

OK, Wes, I understand this. Appreciate your post. And it will help me better follow/understand many of the NICO posts I have seen on these two subjects. Specially glad I did not go out and buy an OBDII. I saw an earlier post about checking the codes manully, but could tell if I would have codes since I have no CEL.

Thanks!
