About a month ago I bought a early 1995 KA24DE (with the butterfly) swap that the hold owner was about to rebuild before swapping it in his 240sx.. that he wrecked. From the ex-owner the engine is in good condition with 120 000km (+-70k miles) and was just thinking that since the engine was out he should rebuilt it.

So I took off the valve cover, cams are immaculate, I compression tested it:180, 175, 175, 165.. good enough for 1-2 years in it stock formi guess? Because I wanna go KA-T in the near future and don't see the point of rebuilding it twice or to run lower compression pistons in N/A... so the longblock will stay the way he his.

I've ripped off the butterfly system and filled the holes with some JB weld, took off the exhaust recirculation manifold in the upper intake parts, I'm gonna plug that.. All I've read about KA is from KA-T or the KA-T section here so I guess that all the emission stuff and IACV and EGR can be removed from a N/A ka without issue. I'm also gonna need some serious help to plug back all the hoses and vaccum because I've buy the longblock with all the accessories already appart, so I've never work or seen a complete KA appart from some internet pics...

Plus most hoses have been cuted so I'm gonna have to make mine, so again I'll need ur help to figure out what plug where and stuff like that.

I'll be adding pictures of my progress tomorrow!

Right now my biggest concern is: I've read that i can get rid of all vacuum on the kind of mess bolted on the back of the head (the bracket with 2 solenoid and plenty of lines).. is that true? So I can just grind/cut out the line and leave the bracket with the two solenoid? Need to plug the solenoid vacuum ports?

whoa those lines are NASTY!

well im going to start from the bottem i guess

the one called "what is this" looks like part of the egr system that is either the egr valve or the one right next to it

"so is this not needed anymore" technically no but your going to have to block off where it bolts onto the intake (leme know how you do that btw) that is where the exhaust gas goes from the header into the egr valve

"this is the egr right" yes thats part of the egr system yo u can just block that off

"now what can i take off from the lower intake?" all that nasty rusted stuff i believe are all useless if your doing an egr delete, they look nasty so if they are really needed you should replace them

i believe my friend has all those pluged up on his egr delete so you could even go as far as to remove them but im going to have to look at an intake tonight to be able to get back to you about that

yeah well I havent updated the situation here for a while. The guys on KA-T.org have been really helpfull with that and i'm almost done now!

and yeah they are nasty! East Coast salt'n rust FTW! I'm taking all that off, even the idle valve is coming off!

All i got left on the intake now is the TPS and the FPR and the vaccuum line for the brake booster!
