would i need new mounts to go from rb20 to rb25/26? or can they all mount in the same place like all LS motors do?OutToWinPAHC wrote:Some searching... lol.
I dont know to be honest, mount kits are available, and there are vendors who will do the harness work if your not comfortable doing it. Its a common swap so all the parts are available.
i know that. im just saying if you had an ls1 and wanted to upgrade to an ls2/ls6 it would bolt up using the same mounts as the ls1OutToWinPAHC wrote:ls do not use stock mount, either do rb.
i could sell it and pay for an entire swap with an iron block 5.3kc240guy wrote:just take the motor out of your monte and put it in there.

This.nissans13240sx wrote:Rb20/25/26 use same mounts whether mckinny wants to admit it or not. There are differnt series of both rb20 and rb25 motors. Red valve covers are most likely painted but I believe the rb20 that came in the old z31s had red valve covers. If you want to upgrade to rb25/26 in the future, you will need to bang out the firewall for the rb25 trans. If you get a rb26 you will need a rb25 trans.
J-land Duhh. I think they were pretty rare in japan, but I forgot, I'm not up on my z31 info like I used to.I wish they had them in america.hbpignosePA wrote:rb20 in a z31?

Yes sir, it was the z31 "200zr".hbpignosePA wrote:i didnt think the z ever got them
is there a difference between the two different ones other than the valve cover color?nissans13240sx wrote:Rb20/25/26 use same mounts whether mckinny wants to admit it or not. I dont know what the differnces from the old rb20s(z31, r31) are, but I really doubt you would get either one of those motors. You will most likely get a rb20 out of a ceferio or r32. Most vendors probably only sell and recieve motors from those cars. I dont think the older rb20s were very common. I believe older rb20s have "rb20" stamped on the timing cover newer motors are blank on the timing cover. I honestly wouldnt worry about it to much.1988montecarloss wrote:

or are all rb20det's mechanically the same?
EDIT: i found that the silver top motors had a better cyl head but i can still only find one factory power rating for the rb20det (215 PS)
