I have been shopping for a G35X for a while [and lurking around on this fine site] and I am about to pull the trigger on a 2007 G35X with 17K miles. Anything specific I should be looking/watching out for?

Welcome to NICO

Make sure it was not involved in a flood or an accident

Check a carfax.
Check each panel to ensure there wasn't damage fixed that was not reported.
Find out the in service date and how much warranty is left.
Check the tires/brakes/ etc. so that you are prepared for additional costs that may be immediate.
Very low mileage! Nice!!
Check service history. Contact local Infiniti service dept and document any service performed.

Test drive it. If it hesitates, there may be an issue with the camshaft sensor. 2007's can also have abrupt throttle response that was fixed in a TSB.

Truedelta has the '07 at 74 cars per 100 having no repairs in the past year, compared to 75 for '08 and 61 for '06. But it also shows 6 per hundred having 3+ repair _trips_ against 2 per 100 for '08 and less than 1 per 100 for '06.

So it looks like on average they're relatively trouble free, but either
a) a bad one can be really bad or
b) there are some low-occurrence problems that tend to take multiple service trips to resolve.

Be careful not to rely too heavily on the CarFax. They're not infallible and their accuracy is dependent on everything being reported...which often isn't the case. I've dealt with a number of cases where there were prior accidents, even major ones resulting in frame damage, etc. that didn't show up on CarFax.

Before purchasing, I would take it over to a reliable and trusted mechanic to give it a good once-over. It's worth a little money on the front end to be sure you're making a good purchase.

CARFAX and other reports are only to be used as a tool. I use it to basically eliminate cars that I definitely do not want to go look at.
If It's clean and a southern car, I go look at them....could still have been in a wreck that wasn't reported.

Several years ago I saw a SVT Cobra on the show room floor of CARMAX with a clean car fax.....and a replaced fender and even a cobra facing the wrong direction..
