A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Post

Hello, I am looking for a car to replace my current DD/track/rallyX a 1994 mazda miata. While trolling craigslist I found a b13 SE-R with a DET swap from a bluebird, (don't know if u12 or u13). I once drove an ITA prepped SE-R a couple years ago and was very impressed by both the engine and chassis. All my previous cars have been RWD but outside of an Integra type R this is the best FWD car I am aware of.

I would like to know a) how fishy is this car being that the price makes it a steal? and b) what should I look for/ask about when looking and driving the car, (outside of the basics: age of clutch, suspension, title condition etc)?

edit: I have already briefly read about the EGR and idle issues and will be sure to ask the seller.

More importantly, I am looking for a reliable car that rarely may see some track or RallyX duty so please let me know of the B13/SR's foibles.

here is a link to the ad (I apologize if NICO doesn't allow hotlinking to ads) http://portland.craigslist.org....html

Cheers,

Price isn't bad for condition of car. Seems to be priced to sell as long as damage to rear is "minor". The only serious questions I have are what type of engine management is being used? (jdm ecu, jwt ecu, etc). What type of upgraded clutch is being used? What size exhaust? Things to look for on any classic are rust on rockers, inside door jams, fenders and trunk area. They are notorious for leaking water in the trunk unless the tail lights have been sealed up. Check for any busted cv axle boots and have the motor mounts been upgraded. Because as you can see, you will get tons of wheel spin and wheel hop. From the pics, the motor is either a u13, w10 or w11. The w10/w11 is a avenir motor, which is newer than the bluebird. If it is a w10, the turbo is journal bearing, w11 is ball bearing. The pics also show an aftermarket fuel rail, I would question what type of injectors are being used? The nx2k brakes are a nice little upgrade, but are border line of being over driven, especially on a turbo sentra. I recently replaced mine with Wilwood 4 pot 11" rotor setup.

Go look it over real good, test drive it and ask questions. Then go from there.
