Wassup ya'll! I just bought a 92 Q45 to steal the engine out of and swap into my 99 Frontier. While I have the engine out I would like to beef it up a bit and have a few upgrade Q's. (pun intended )

Cams....does anyone make any performance cams or regrind the stockers?

ECU....read about someone modding them but don't know much else other than JWT does it for $$$$.

Does anyone make headers?

Aftermarket fuel injectors?

I have searched and know about the injector, MAF and timing issues so those will be addressed. I plan on adding n2o once it's in the truck so just give me some opinions on what works well for good, reliable hp from this powerplant.

Thanks...

T45

All I can say is do a lot more reading because you haven't even mentioned chain guides.

Check out our VH45 forum.

You have some reading to do, check out the link Jesda gave you and go from there..... ASSUME that if I did not mention it on that website, its not terribly feasible (the only exception is boost and nitrous)

Thanks guys but I've already been there. And I did mention the "timing issue" in my first post and was referring to the timing chain issues but I guess I wan't clear enough. That site is kinda helpful I guess. I am not looking for Q45 mods but VH45 mods so it really wasn't what I was looking for.

I have been reading some more and it seems that aftermarket cams aren't made and grinding them is a waste of time due to the VVT and the fact that there isn't much hp to be found in them.

I need to get up with Robert sometime after summer to get my ecu modded.

So after I get this engine out I'm just going to keep it simple with maybe rings and port and polish.

I know you guys get tired of newbies but I searched all I could without registering and once I registered I just posted so that I could go and do other things with my day besides sift through posts about discolored shift knobs and changing light bulbs....sorry.

"throw me a freakin bone here!!"

The stock cams work best for a smooth idle and performance... on a N/A setup you can get some HP on regrinds... If your running boost stock cams are just about what you want.....

What are you wanted to DO with your VH?

use NISMO fuel injectors, they make them in 555, 740, and 850cc/min..... Obviously youll have to reprogram the ECU. no one makes headers, youll have to do it custom. Good news is you can take the stock manifolds and play with them, as they are tube headers.

Well the engine is going in this: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/...rc=ph

So basically I'm looking for a powerhouse of torque. Usually with HP comes FT/LB so right now I just want to focus on the swap alltogether. However while I had the engine out I wanted to do whatever was a "good idea" so that I wouldn't have to pull it again at a later date.

Thanks for the input elwesso, it is much appreciated!

nice fronteir...

Anyway with something like this I would just get the engine in the vehicle RUNNING and then go from there... Dont do too much at one time, get your stuff running and then go from there!

How can the Nissan VH45 engine be mentioned without any connection with the 90-96 Q45?

Except for the other G5O's (SWB and LWB 1990-2002 Nissan Presidents and the JDM badged Nissan Infiniti Q45), the VH45DE was used in no other factory production vehicle to my knowledge.

If someone had deep pockets I'd suggest

Ed Pink Engines or Menards Engine Development.

They both have experience with the DOHC Nissan V8.

Menards Engine with the assistance of Nissan, prepared a normally aspirated 715 horsepower, VK56 stock block engine with 510 lb-ft @ 6,000 rpm for the Titan Pro-2 CORR entry. The Nissan/Menards VK56 redlines at 8,200 rpm.

The engine was developed for competition in the Champion Off-Road Racing (CORR) series.

Unlike many race engines, the block, cylinder heads, cam covers, water pump, main bearings, rod bearings, and ignition coils are all stock Endurance 5.6 components.
