Hi All

Just bought an n/a Auto Z31 and having a bit of an issue!

when the car is in Gears 1, 2 or in park or neutral it will rev fine all the way to the limiter, however when the car is in D it will stop at 3000 revs and stay there permanently..

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

James

Welcome aboard!

So, do you mean when you're driving with the gear selector in D, it won't exceed 3k rpms?

Most likely issue: The throttle position sensor. Sometimes, if they get wet, or soaked with oil, they'll act up. It's on the throttle body just behind the rubber boot that connects the air flow meter.

In addition you may want to check out the MAF sensor as well.

The Factory Service Manual for your car will be quite helpful in showing you the proper testing procedures! I think they are available here on the forum.

Congratulations on your new Z31!
