New Z Owner, Please Help!

Hi everyone!

So here is the story, I just bought my first 300zx its is an Auto No turbo. I love the car, but just a few days after buying it I lost reverse. it sounds like it wants to go into reverse just doesnt actually engage, I checked fluid level it was, so then I removed the pan and filter. what i found discouraged me there is pieces to what looks like Maybe a seal or something I cant tell what it is, but included pictures below. any help on what it is or how to fix it would much appreciated!

Yeah, that transmission is pretty well toast. You can rebuild it if you wanna spend about a thousand in parts, or you can get a decent used one and swap. What you can't see is all the broken shards that have chewed the pump and stopped up the lines. Trans swap on a Z32 isn't *that* difficult, compared to some things though.
