Ours:We always eat pork, black eyed peas, and greens!!

I've heard that what you do on the first is what you will be doing the rest of the year.....So, I normally spend time with family, workout on the heavy bag for cardio, practice my TKD and visit a couple of dealerships and look at new cars.

Do you guys/gals have any New Years Day traditions??

My wife makes a seafood casserole for dinner (no idea how that started, but we've done it for several years now) and before that we just relax most of the day and take down holiday decorations. We've watched the Winter Classic hockey game the last two years and will probably watch again today, so I guess that's a new tradition. Other than that, not much.

I'll probably also step on the scale to see how much weight I put on in December so I can gauge how hard I have to work out in January to take it back off.

Always head over to Grandma's for New Years dinner with the family. Its kind of like Christmas, but without the presents.

We use to go over to my other Grandma's on New Years eve to watch my Grandpa cook dutch treats (and eat them) but after he passed away the tradition kind of went with him. Sad, as he probably wanted someone to keep the tradition alive, but I don't think anyone is willing to step into his shoes just yet.

My wife and I catch a movie on New Year's Eve day. We've done it for the last 11 years.

Last 15 years we grab the ski gears and hit the slope. ( once we did cross country skiing ). However this year we delayed it for tomorrow. My son wants to bring his friend with us and he was busy today so we decided to go tomorrow.

So today we did go for winter hiking. There is a good size trail few minutes from us and we took the dog with us since he loves snow. Trail is mostly going thru thick wood and follows the river. Nice wide life. Was cool we did about 7-8 miles hiking. My dog looked like frosty with his big furr and snow stuck on and froze.

For food was pork chop marinaded in Mesquite. With some green on the side.

Now I am ready for the slope.

Absolutely nothing. This year I spent the day doing some online stuff and working on my "honey do" list.

Yuck.....I had to replace a couple wall outlets, take apart a shower faucet to adjust the water temp, and move some stuff around.

Today I've gotta help my Mother in-law with her new camera and the daughter is having a friend come over to spend the night. I can't seem to get a weekend to myself anymore.

Lay in bed with the shades closed, lights off, pillow over my face, comtemplating death due to my hangover.

Or somehow waking up outside.

Not a single New Years tradition here.

I've just kind of always thought it was same sh*t, different year.
