Last night I decided not to get drunk on New Years Eve, and spending New Years Day nursing a hangover. Instead, I hit the sack early (1AM), spent the whole day today detailing the Q in my garage.

1. Washed the car with Dawn dish soap.2. Washed the car with Meguiars Gold Car Shampoo.3. Did the entire exterior with Meguiars ScratchX.4. Washed the whole car with Meguiars Gold Class again.5. Meguiars NXT tire cleaner and conditioner6. Armor All professional tire dressing.7. Put on a coat of Meguiars Gold Class liquid car wax.8. Put on a coat of Meguiars NXT liquid car wax.9. Cleaned windows with invisiglass.10. Finished up by putting RainX treatment on all exterior windows.

I also was able to put my new electric buffer (19.99 at Wallyworld) through its paces. Its a cheapy, but its still beats the tar out of doing it all by hand.

I was hoping to have some pics... but, I am afraid I ran out of daylight. I will try to snap off a couple of pics tomorrow.

BTW, the combination of the Meguiars Gold Class liquid wax and the Meguiars NXT liquid wax made for one hell of a shine. Unfortunately, the finish looks so good that I can now easily see all the little nicks, dings, and dents.

That comes from establishing your priorities. (...did I just say that ?

Amateur night is for the amateurs, wayyyy too many stupid people (and cops to manage them) these days to monkey with the public.

..and now he's got a clean Q !

Sadly, since I did the original detailing my car has been plagued by a nagging mist, rain, snow, road salt, and bird **** barrage. To say the finish lost its luster would be putting it mildly.

However, I cleaned her back up today and the finish came back pretty well.

So, here are the pics I promised about a week ago.

That looks just like my old car. But I had J30 wheels on mine.

I detailed my Q45t over the holidays too. I'm teaching my daughter how to take care of it before she takes over in the next couple of months. We used zymol cleaner wax, but will use Mequires NXT for the next one.

Your car looks great, but you need to get the Cal custom lowering springs from Elwesso. They really make the car look and ride better.

Mine is an active... so, I don't think the lowering options work the same for me. Once I have the active back to being completely operational, I believe I can add some controlers that will allow me lower the ride height a little.

Thanks for the compliments though!

good luck on the restoration. My first Q45 was a 1990 leased car, and it was great. My father in law then bought a 91 Q45a like yours, and it lasted until last year when it was totaled in an accident. They are great cars and worthy of the restoration.

Very nice indeed. That's a lot of work for sure but nice result. I'm a little spoiled I guess. My boss gave me a custom detail for the Q for a Christmas present. Cost about $300 but it was very nice. I posted a photo of my engine on another thread but I'll stick a couple below cuz I'm proud of my baby now!

This place does many of the cars at the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ. I felt a little out of place with my old Q there amongst all the exotic cars but they treated the Q like an exotic. Check out the results.

(sure needs those Cali Customs springs doesn't it)

Been trying to dust it off every day and so far it's stayed clean since Jan 3rd. Also helps that we haven't had any rain or even dew in the morning for a couple months!

Same problem as ceningolmo tho....now I can see every chip and nick in the paint.

Is it just me or do you guys "baby" your cars more when they are clean?
