Just signed the Purchase Agreement on a 2000 Infiniti Q45t 10th Anniversary edition w/ 64xxx Miles. Picking it up Tuesday.

Pearl White w/ Tan interior, fully loaded. Had a blast test driving it, fell in love with the car. Such a fun to car drive, Im looking forward to driving it for a long time.

BTW, this is replacing my 1999 Nissan Maxima (Crimson Blaze Red, 1 in 900).

Be sure to check the service history or the VIN against the TSB for the wheel recall.

You'll love the car.

Anyone know where I could find a different grill for the car? I know there's different ones available for the I30, and I think it'd look 10x better with something more sleek.

The only different grilles are on Nissan Cimas in Japan, like the Cima Grand Touring grille I have on mine. I am going to buy 5 or so random Cima grilles (standard, and Grand Touring) from Japan and sell them.

Since you have the "raccoon" headlight surrounds, be sure any grille you get has black in it.

I like that Grand Touring one you have - I think it would look better than my current one.

I assume I would have to paint it myself?

If you are referring to mine, it's chrome around the rim, and the center is smoked dark grey, Grand Touring badge is chrome with red and blue accents. They come like that.

I think that could work on mine, sinc I *DO* have the raccoon lights, as someone earlier said.

Keep us posted when you get them in.

How funny BlueC - I guess I won't be getting that one. I live in Mpls, and I test drove it last week. It is a sweet ride! I have been contemplating for awhile over it - I guess I moved too slow.

Now I have even more ammo against my wife to purchase that 1994 model I checked out today.

That's really funny. I know they told me someone was coming in at 1pm to look at it, and I pulled out my checkbook and I said "not anymore".

It was too good to pass up and im usually a quick decider.

You should consider grabbing an extended warranty...while I threw $1300 bucks down the crapper on the extended on my 97', I was much happier paying that up front that having anything happen later...especially if you have the Nav package that was an early Nav for Nissan, I'd sleep better for 5 years to 100k with some insurance.

Overall you'll love this car, they are very cool and pretty rare to find on the road. I always get people asking me what the heck my car is, a Jag, MB, something German???

What did it set you back?

Im not worried about a warranty. Purchased it for $15,800. I feel pretty good about the price.

Pretty good price, you should check to see if the 60k service was done or not. I flushed literally everything at 60k, transmission, brakes, power steering AC, everything. Make sure that was done at 60k.

Yea one thing I wasnt sure about, was how the transmission shifted. Does everyone have a slight pause between shifts? It doesnt feel like its slipping, maybe thats just how Infiniti designed it? My maxima never had a pause like that, but then again, its not built like the Q45.

That wasn't me. I test drove it last Thursday, and said maybe i'd be in next week with my wife for a spin. Not anymore... It is a great car - I just couldn't get over that it was plain white. I do agree a new grill would do wonders, and I think smoking the windows would look cool also. I'm not big on completely changing stock cars, but those 2 things would work well.

Congrats on the car - I have a quick question though. You say you purchased the car for $15,800. Did you try talking them down, or did you just want it and paid that? The reason why I ask is because that was my first time at that dealership, and I was very impressed by them, but I saw on their website all sales are firm. Just wondering if this is really true?

Im actually pretty happy with the white since its a 3 stage paint, if you asked me 3 weeks ago I would have told you no way im getting a white car. I was looking at a 2000 Lexus SC300 last night, which was also pearl white, but the dealership was full of a$$holes and they tried to pull a bait and switch on me, so I walked away.

Yea I went with their price, they are firm. Its actually a very reasonable price, very nice people over there.

I would investigate this pause you described, my 97' runs right up to redline when I punch it hard and shifts quite spirited, no pause at all....you should still be under factory warranty on the drivetrain so I would get it into the shop ASAP. the nice thing about warranty work on the Q is you get a freebie G as a loaner.

Yea im assuming the 7 year coverage is still active. Maybe once I pick it up, i'll drop it off at a nearby Infiniti dealership and have them check it out. Wasn't sure if that was just how the transmission acts normally in the Q45.

My '99 Qt has a seeming lag between 1st and 2nd, and are real hard abrupt shift between 2nd and 3rd - unless I am accelerating hard, or barely throttling. I figured it was semi normal and the 2-3 shift being a slight, possible problem in the transmission that I'll have investigated, but now I am not so sure.

Yea it doesnt really feel like the transmission was slipping, the rest of the time it pulls hard. I did read that the Q45s retard the timing between shifts to make them smoother, maybe thats what I was feeling. Im having the dealership im buying it from check it out before I go pick it up. Maybe its just a design thing, I hope. No other parts besides the shifts felt laggy at all, it all felt very firm.

Congratulations, as everyone has said you will love it. I have a 2000 Anniversary model with 50,000 miles. Transmission is smooth with no lag. I do notice when the car is cold though that the first to second shift is abrupt. Goes away when everything is warmed up

It must have been dirty because IPQ is not plain white. Well, maybe if you consider Charlize Theron a plain girl scout.

Maybe it wasnt fully warmed up, I can't remember. If there is something wrong, im still under warranty right? I thought it was 7yrs/70,000mi?

I'll know for sure once I pick it up on monday. I'll test it out further and see how bad the lag is and between which gears its happening.

When you get the car, make sure you replace the transmission fluid, and have the cooler installed. I would get the warranty to be on the safe side - KS, the injectors and other things may fail.
