Because linux is a finicky OS, and apple is finicky and expensive.

So we have windows=virus heavenLinux=finicky until you get it configured correctly, then extremely stableApple=nuff said.

I carry my iMac around when I travel. And I store my important stuff on there, while I abuse the Athlon.

Nice little handle on top.

Apple's really aren't all that expensive or just for graphics . . . I'm going to Virginia Tech this coming fall to major in Computer Science, and I'm planning on getting a PowerBook G4. OS X is based on UNIX, and with apps like gcc, etc all available for OS X (for free), it's a great platform to develop apps on, not to mention the OpenStep architecture that's still around, to a degree. And a PowerBook G4 (their "pro" line) priced against an equivelent Dell Latitude (their "pro/business" line) will have the Apple coming out cheaper . . . so there. ;-)

Hehe . . . I've used almost every architecture under the Sun (bad pun, sorry, heh), and Intel is my least favorite. Sun, SGI, Alpha, etc . . . all better. :-) IMO anyway . . . ;-)

There are multiple Intel architectures. ;)

As well as many x86 clones such as offerings by Via and AMD

windows is find as long as u know how to deal with it, just format and reinstall every few months and it will run just fine, apple is the only computer i have been able to lock up 10+ times within 30 mins.. they are worthless (and it was a new one too i dont know what model tho, its with the flat screen) anyways they are just... gay.. i started out on a mac, used one for about 2 years then got my PC and ill NEVER go back to apple.. linux is ok its just hard to use, and ive locked that OS up also.... i use XP pro and i havnt locked it up in over a year.. also i dont like store bought computers i like building my own. so for me i like xp pro, its good enough for what i do..

I have more interesting things to do besides worry about the $%#$% computer.

Its just not a hobby or career for me anymore. Its a device that needs to stay out of my way.
