sooooo right now im running the stock 300zx wheels and the tires are starting to get bald, so i figured lets slap some rims on there(im going to put some 350z 18's on it). so my question is as far as tires what kind do i need because ive seen cars that get new rims/wheels that lift the car up. i see it alot on honda's after they upgrade the rims. its raises it up, like higher then stock height. so my question is when i get 350z wheels will this happen or what kind/size tires do i need to avoid this?

Thanks!

Need to know what size tires you currently have, then you can determine rolling diameter. Typically, depending on which Z wheels you have, the most common size I've seen is 225/40. Look at the sizes on your stock wheels, then go HERE and plug the numbers in. You will need to know the diameter, width, tire size, and offset. There you can find out what the differences are/will be. Hopefully you can match the rolling diameter and not change anything. Good luck!

(stock size is 225/50/16, just FYI)

I plugged in some numbers, and seems like 245/35 is a pretty close to stock setup on 18's. Keep tweaking with it. Idk what width the Z33 wheels are, so I guessed.

ok thanks. so what tires would you guys reccommend? i was thinking 245/35/18 in the back and either 235/35/18 or 225/35/18 in the front. do you guys think 35's are too skinny or should i go with 40's? like i said in my post i dont want it to raise my car up or anything like that. i dont want it looking like a 4x4 lol

The ride willl be a little rougher in the 35 profile sidewall, but it won't be terrible. And I've seen 245/35/18, and it honestly doesn't look that bad.

well im just worried about getting either 40 or 45 tires and having them be too big, and lifting up the car and having huge fendor gaps. i might just go with 245/40/18 in the back and 225/40/18 in the front.

http://crxcommunity.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=44756 (scroll down to the first crx picture, its a turqoise color) yea its a honda but its a good example of what im talking about. the huge fender gap, and how its rasied up and looks like a 4x4.

Then I would suggest putting whatever money you had set aside for this project toward suspension. Lower it first. These cars look great slammed on stockers. Hell, these cars look great on anything except larger wheels with stock suspension. That's just my $.02 on the matter, but it's your call in the end.

If you're dead-set on getting the 350Z WHEELS (not rims), then go with the 35 profile and 245 all the way around. Square setup, with matching sidewall profiles.

You do know that the sidewall of a 245/40/18 will be larger than the sidewall of a 225/40/18, right?

yea sorry about calling them rims haha. yea i just did a wheel calculator thing and i punched in 245/35/18 and it said thats the perfect size. so im pretty sure im going to get those all around. do you know if 245/35/18's will fit on a 350z stock wheel? im going to get the touring WHEELS(6 spoke i believe). but yea now im actually thinking about lowering it first or maybe do it instead of getting wheels for now.....ive heard tein s techs are good for the z's. any suggestions for suspension setup? Thanks for replying too. i appriciate it.

Hey, no problem. That's what the forums are for. The 350Z wheels are 18x8 +30 (just looked it up), so the 245 would be a little "bulged" on it, but it's not too bad. Here's an SRT4 with 245/35/18 mounted on an 18x8 sized wheel:

ok so by "bulged" what do you mean exactly? im pretty positive im going with 245/35/18 all around with the 18x8 350z wheels. do you know id they will rub at all? or if the will clear the brake calipers in the front?

Bulged meaning that the 245 width is a little too wide for the 8" wheel and will spill over the sides. It will mount no problem as long as the tire guy is experienced enough. I've mounted a 255/35 onto an 8" wide, but that kills the proper tire patch area.

They "should" not rub if they are in similar diameter/width to the stock wheels as long as the offset is correct. I am not too sure what the 350z wheel offset is.
