I picked up a set of rare and neglected German two-piece wheels, Rial Imola 18x8 +35 and 18x9+22

This is what they looked like:

Stained and peeling clear coat, bends in the lips.

Over the last 6 months I've been refinishing them, and I've gotten them to look like this:

Falken 912s 225/40/18 in the front, Dunlop SSRs 235/40/18 in the rear

Been rolling on them for about a week, no air leaks or anything:

Next I need an alignment and to go about 5mm - 10mm lower

What do you guys think?

Congrats on the new rims, you did a really nice job on them! Still a fan of the old ones though.

Everyone's getting new wheels! When will mine arrive!?

Nice refinish man! What I like best is that these aren't wheels you see all the time. Lower, and spacers in the front. If the rears get more sunk from lowering, put spacers there also.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Front have 10mm spacers on currently, with 1 tick of camber. I'll be getting rid of all front camber when I go lower; the Rotas poked out too much in the front

The rear needs to go lower just to fit, here's a pic of the poke

Question about camber: When you apply 1 degree/tick, does it take effect immediately? Or does it take a while to settle in? I've never messed with my camber notches and have always wondered how moving a dial can instantly change the angle of your wheel without having to remove other suspension parts.

The Rotas did look good, had a few problems tho

1. They were Rotas
2. Front poked too much
3. Cast manufactured
4. Gold wheels proved too hot for police

I have a restoration thread on StanceWorks with more pics and details:

How long did it take you to remove the rivets / bolts and how did you do it?

I finally got around to lowering it more

BC coils are maxed in the front. Very little clearance from the ground, stupid front subframe brackets hang down so low.

It definitely looks good, cuz they're not ugly wheels and the fact that you're lowered on coils helps even more.. but something about them irks me a little. Maybe it's the tires? I don't know, they seem a little small but I could just be going crazy. I can't quite put my finger on it.

I think I know what you mean

But I can't think of a reasonable way to fix it since I have so little clearance in the rear. Otherwise I'd run wider tires

Maybe a pull? My fenders are already trimmed though

Oilsink where u at? Haha

Spotted your car today as I was driving past santa clara university. had to pull over and take a pic, plus I left you a little nico card on your driver side door lol. The wheels look a lot better in person than I was expecting, nice work!

Nice spotting! I just started grad school there and there's consistent street parking. Never seen anything like it haha

I'm pretty ashamed tho the lips were dirty and stained that day :(

Good job on refinishing the wheels. Could use spacers and more aggressive tires imo.
