Finally found what I wanted excellant condition 16x7.5 [300zx wheels] Ebayed $250 pickup in Birmigham tomorrow.I will give up on 15" when the current set of 235/60/15 die in September......don't laugh if you see my Q with Z wheels on the rear and 94 oem on the front as I experiment to find what works...........hate to waste the last of the AVS I.Tire Rack has some 255/50/16 Michelin Pilot H4 for $106.

All these choices 235/55/16, 245/50/16, 255/50/16

I kept thinking about buying 2 sets of the 300zxtt wheels and saving the 16 x 8.5 and reselling the resulting 4 - 16x 7.5 but all the TT wheels are too expensive if pristine.

Good job! You can see how you like the 255/60/16s in the XGTH4 when I bring Q2 down for her visit in the next month or so. We'll just wait until after the guide job for the patented Dennis blow-the-doors-off test drive on S. Cobb. :D

Of course these will be on my 97Q wheels, so they'll probably be a bit narrower due to the 7" rim width.

Very nice, probably the perfect wheel for the upgrade for the Q.

I've been studying the wheel thing for years as I bought 2 sets of 15" 94 take offs from dealer in 1994 for $100 per set.

After about 4-5 years and 100,000 miles even the sturdy oem wheels start to bend/warp and require more balance weight just for the rims.

Two of my rims are now requiring over 25 grams of weight [on the outer flange] just to balance the wheels ALONE..........this is up from the new specs and measured numbers of 10 grams5 years ago when tested prior to install.

Wheels get tired after 100k.

As to tire rolling diameter I always stay within 2%, so you just can't pick any old 245/50/16 as there is a variance between brands.

The 16 pound weight of the cast Z wheels should even with tire weight decrease the total unsprung weight. But they are cast so They will be lucky to last 5 years with the extra load of the Q.

If you see me zipping around Birmingham, in my silver Q, honk!

By the way, Barber's park is having a big race event, tomorrow afternoon. Take a few extra hours, and give it a look-see. My Friend, Roger, is racing in the SCCS series. I was his pit crew chief, in '88, when we went to Daytona, where I met my wife (I don't hold it against him). Here's the data on the race:

"We are running the third SCCS race here in Birmingham at Barber Motorsports this Saturday, July 19th. We are the headlining event. We have two practices of 30 minutes at 9:00 and 11:00. Qualifying will be at 1:00 with an Autograph session to follow at 1:45 for all the drivers. The race will start promptly at 3:10 with a maximum lap limit of 50 or maximum time limit of 90 minutes. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. If you can make it we would love to see you out there. Paddock passes can be obtained by signing waiver sheets. "

Great deal on the wheels. I have a friend with a '91 300zx TT, that wants to upgrade his wheels, so I might have a set of those, soon for my Q.

By all means, you MUST visit the Barbers complex while you're in the HAM. It's right off I-20 so it's on the way.

I think it's the 1st Leeds exit off of 20.

The facility is soooooooooooooo nice, it has to been seen to believe. Makes Road Atlanta look like a truck stop.

If you don't make it over this weekend, let me know and I'll pick them up for you. I was heading over to ATL this afternoon, for the mets game but had to cancel.

I'll be in atlanta several times over the next few weeks to watch the Braves. Call if you need anything while you're here!

Thought all the the ZX wheels were forged. Is this not so? Or is it only the NA wheel that is not? That wouldn't seem right.

Well just got back 11:00am-4:46 including 2 rest stops [nice facilities] 314 miles.......including the terrible traffic on ALA 280 passed Heath South. 20 redlights, 12.9 gallons of gas to overflowing both times ~~24.34 mpg AC on 100% of the time average 63 mph with nothing over 78 mph. Subtracted 46 minutes for 2 rest stops and the time spend viewing , paying, chatting, loading wheels.

2 of the wheels were perfect no more than 3-4 grams per side, the other two had a warp on the inside. One was 6/21 the other 4/15...........pretty much the going rate 2 will be good and 2 will be bad............usually the passenger side.

Now to find a shop that can true the 2 and make them in spec again..............better than paying $240 each with our discount at the dealer............$250+ $21 gas plus maybe $150 TO FIX 2 =~~~$105 EACH ON AVERAGE.........I consider my time vacation this free.........plus another $45 wear and tear prorayed mainteance/repair so $117 each to be fair half of new.

Dennis, why not the Firestones over the H rated Michelin? Seems like a good trade for the performance differential.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t

Firestone SZ50 not available in 255/50/16...........actually prefer the Pirelli method directionals in front for turning, assyms or regular 4,5,6 straight grooves in rear.........I probably try 4-5 different brands ..........by the time I get the other two wheels true it will probably be Fall.
