That's rather superficial, though, right? I mean, I'm not calling you superficial, but folks who'd rather have expensive ugly wheels rather than moderately priced nice looking rims.lain wrote:What I have learned in the wheel industry...its the company that makes the wheel more then the wheel looks itself that will get you complaments. For example I know some ugly wheels...really ugly...but you will get props for them from people that know of them. If money is the issue I say save up.
Right, that's why I mentioned curb rash...although I'd venture to guess that's not the only way they can be damaged. I've never actually done this to my cars, but I'm just saying that accidents happen, and dropping a lot on wheels (25% of the value of the car...) isn't everyone's cup of tea.lain wrote:The only way your wheels will get damaged is if you get too close to the curb.
Well said. I totally agree. It's funny though...I can almost hear the conversation now:Rockhound wrote:That's rather superficial, though, right? I mean, I'm not calling you superficial, but folks who'd rather have expensive ugly wheels rather than moderately priced nice looking rims.
Unfortunately, rims get beat-up, just like everything else on the exterior of your car. I can't imagine accidentally putting some curb rash on ~$4k rims, that would be painful.
I'd say if NY.AD.MAN finds some reasonably-priced rims in a style he's looking for, then go for it. I'd assume he's much more interested in the overall appearance of his customized Versa than getting 'props' for rolling on BBS...
In this lineup, I'd vote emphatically for option B...those things rock.
LMFAO! WOW DUDE, that was . . . HILARIOUS! That is why you get wheel locks!BBISHOPPCM wrote:One factor to consider... let's say he buys some nice rims, for $4000 a set. He pulls into a seven-eleven, walks in, and buys a Squishee and some hot dogs... After haggling over the price of the hot dogs (he spent his hot-dog money on some rims, along with two months' mortgage payments), he walks out (sans hot-dogs), only to find his shiny blue Versa sitting on some kick-*** cinder blocks. Now, poor NY.AD.MAN is out two months' mortgage, three hot-dogs, a set of $4,000 rims, the cost of new rims, a tow, and cab fare. Had he purchased some reasonably priced, (stylish, but not as likely to be stolen) rims, he would still have his hot-dogs, rims, and house.
I will try to chop all of these on your V to give you a better idea of how they will look....NY.AD.MAN wrote:Thanks again everyone, and I hope you will enjoy the finalized production. Bulldog... I know I had you do the previous wheels, but...
If you do these, you'd really be incredible! Plus, I went to UGA, which is the BULLDOG mascot and our colors are RED and BLACK...
Coincidence?
Gotta agree with that. Nothing trumps personal opinion.Bubs daddy wrote:I would say, get the style of wheels YOU like.
Not sure what you're getting at here...as has already been discussed, the wheels shown here are R-1's. They're a pretty well known brand. It's not like he's picking up some cheapo's at Autozone. Seems like if you're over $130k in debt you might want to consider setting aside money for that instead of a set of Works for a Versa. Drooling over a brand name is superficial.lain wrote:Other then that I rather roll on steelies then some unknown-named brand wheels. I know rims and I look at rims all the time on the street. The people I see putting low unknown-named brand wheels on their cars are the same people putting TypeR sticker on a Civic Sedan.
Just FYI, that's not a phenomenon unique to CALI...we've got plenty of it in my neck of the woods, too. Unfortunately, that is.Clipsed wrote:you never know, I know guys with rims on their car where the rims and tires together are worth LITERALLY 5x what the car is worth. You would be REALLY suprised what people here in the LA, CALI area do with their cars lolz.
D FTMFW! BD, it would sure look a heck of a lot nicer with some brakes behind the wheels like I had done when I PSed wheels on my V . . . .bulld0g wrote:here are the chops of each wheel....

these were just quick chops....chops are much better when you can use pix of wheels on a car already at the right angle....Clipsed wrote:

Too bad they don't have a big brake conversion kit yet and to change to rotors in the back too!!! HAHAHA
