Post

My fiancee and I picked up a white vert over the weekend... it's mechanically great (already 5-speed swapped too!) but cosmetically it needs a whole lot of work.

frame rails/rockers/underside/engine bay are quite clean/rust free not bad for a few hundred bucks

Anyway I've done a bunch of searching and been looking at things but I still have some questions I hope I can get some answers to.

anywhere here goes.

-is the carpet in the vert the same as the coupe? as in if I wanted to replace the carpet would coupe carpet be a driect fit? if not can it be modified easily to fit?

-does anyone have a picture of what the rear window buttons should look like, I think mine are missing a part but I haven't been able to find a clear pic? how hard is it to find replacement buttons if mine are broken?

-a lot of people swap in coupe doors, and I love the idea of getting rid of the seatbelt pillar, however looking a them it looks like the vert doors are reinforced in a few places to add structural rigidity when it's closed... driving the car as it is now it seems like it flexes quite a bit compared to my S14... how much more would be lost by swapping out to non coupe doors?

-if I did swap doors are there any differences between coupe and hatch doors or does it not really matter which ones I swap to?

-the car had a 5-speed swap from the previous owner, the top does not go up and down on it's own (you can put it up and down easily with your hands) and nothing happens when pushing the the buttons for the top. so obviously either something is hooked up incorrectly or it's broken. if the electronics were not functioning would you still be able to move the top by hand? or does that mean that the hydrolics are broken/not attached as well? If I wanted to check where should I look?

I'm sure I'll have more questions but those are the ones I haven't been able to find answers (or STRAIGHT answers) to so far.

Thanks in advance

thanks for the pics and info on the switches... mine are definitely busted because they look nothing like that (maybe hacked together by the previous owner after they broke)

As for the top, I've read that thread before and that's how I knew that the 5-speed swap might be effecting it, but it doesn't really explain if my ability to move it up and down easily by hand should be possible if the electrical connection isn't working... which is what I'm really concerned about.

pop your trunk

twist the valve on top of the top pump.

that should make it easier to open/close

well, it's already easy to open and close...

I was wondering if that was a BAD sign but I'm guessing maybe not.

Carpet is slightly different, but coupe carpet can be made to work.

Coupe and Hatch doors are the same.
