Not every car is designed for soil-your-pants speed. The Versa is a great daily.

I wonder how long they are going to d!ck around with this dual injector s*** before ponying up and moving to direct injection.

IMO, that thing looks like crap. I'll hold out for the hatch before making final judgement though. Also, was that article mistaken when they talked about a 5 speed manual? I thought it already came with a 6 speed...

That's what I've been saying. Look what GM is doing with DI in the LLT. Amazing. Imagine a VQ37VHR with DI. It seems weird to me to be mixing cutting-edge valvetrain tech with antiquated fuel tech. The two support each other: you get more from your valvetrain tech if you're making the most of your fuel tech, and vice-versa. Why Nissan isn't using DI everywhere right now is baffling, especially since they've been using it in select engines for over a decade.

^Fiesta... beats the Versa with traditional multi-port fuel injection in both power and fuel economy, and does it without the CVT Turd Transmission.

f***' A Nissan, start racing everything you build (kinda like Ford does), and your cars WILL benefit.

OR hell, even the Focus gets up to 40MPG.

If you are going to make a boring car, it sure as hell better get amazing fuel efficiency.

Meanwhile, the competition from Hyundai is MUCh more appealing.

No way. The Versa's bland with a touch of ugly, but the Accent is eye-bleeding. It's also one of those cars that looks far nicer in pictures. In person the weirdness of some of the lines and curves comes through in full. The front end is okay, but the sides and rear are a mess.

The Forte, though...that's decent looking.

Doesn't look too bad, doesn't really scream econobox anymore.

Would look better with a taller wheel/tire combo.

This is true. Hyundai and Kia are going to be knocking on Nissans door if they don't get with the program. The Sonata and new Elantra are flying off the shelves at break-neck speed right now.

The Accents are selling like hot cakes up here. I just saw pics of the new Accent and it's going to be a show stopper rated at 40mpg for under $20k. Nissan and Toyota are poised to be left in the dust within the next two years.

Hyundai and Kia have been knocking on Nissan's door for the past few years. They were poised to blow by them this year, even without the earthquake in Japan, which HAS hurt Nissan's sales significantly.

There was a Forte on display at SEMA last year. It was very impressive. I have yet to see an Accent in person but I think the blandness of the Versa is a definite minus when it comes down the final decision. It would be for me.

YUCK. The new sedan is UGLY. The first gen wasn't exactly a head turner, but this one definitely is...for the wrong reasons.

I actually liked the first gen hatches. I'm sure they make awesome daily drivers/gas savers.

The new Hyundai looks far superior imo.

This whole time I've been thinking to myself, "Well, the Sentra did always have some strange styling."

But then-

Versa
