Saw this the other day. Had black tape over Nissan insignia, couldn't make out the model name under the tape.

Nissan Sunny - which is rumored to be the new Sentra.

The rumor is that Nissan will kill off the fugly Versa sedan, introduce the Sentra with a lower entry level model, and basically give the consumer the option of the Versa as a hatch and the Sentra as the sedan.

Although the V Sedan is pretty fugly, I think this one takes the fugly cake, especially as a Sentra! Is it just me or does it appear that Nissan is stealing some styling from Toyota on this one? Looks like a Corolla mixed with an old Prius.

Hate to say it but I'm getting on the fugly Sentra bus. The last generation was sort of ok but the bubbly one before it was hideous. The SE-R logo was downright atrocious. These new pics are just kinda "meh." But I do like the camera effect on the rim in the first shot - I know there's a name for it somewhere. And the driver looks quite nonplussed.

I think this might be a more accurate rendition of the new Versa, rumored to actually have two engine options: the 1.6-liter turbo or the 1.8 n/a....

@AZhitman: I like it a lot. Sleek. Looks like it even has turn signal lights on the front 1/4 panel. The grill is much improved.

1.6 turbo would kill on the Versa. Wonder what the mpg is like: the Juke is unimpressive, but I wonder how it would perform on a lighter car like the Versa. What I wouldn't give for forced induction on my 1.8.

The signal repeaters may be eliminated once they manufacture for the United States. In other countries where the DOT actually does it job - they're mandatory.

Other countries don't have DOT.

My Cube has side signal repeaters.

Whatever the DOT equivalent regulatory body is abbreviated as.

I love the Versa - but the way the signal lights are located makes it really hard to merge in tight packed traffic because the car next to you can't see you signaling.

Makes sense...

Fortunately, they're easy to add. I had a set on my 94 Civic Si.

Ah.

Well, I'd assume they probably come with instructions, but mine were simple: Drill a hole, run wires up to front turn signals, tap into those two wires, install the light in the hole, and you're done. :)

omg, 1.6 turbo.

I want

On a side note, it looks like a mini new Murano. But then again, the Versa now looks like a mini old Murano. Not a fan of the new styling

That looks like a base 2012 Sentra. The deisgns I've seen scratched out basically make it look like a shorter Altima. The Versa sedan isn't going anywhere unfortunately.

This time its sedan first followed by hatch. The new Versa sedan will be out this summer, the hatch follows next year. The sedan comes with a 109 hp 1.6L and (new) available CVT. It has less interior room than the current Versa and weighs about 150Ibs less. The sedan is very dowdy looking, has ugly door mirrors and seems to lack the current centre armrest - amongst other things I noticed. I still think it will prove very reliable and run for years without many parts.

The hatch is due next year along with the Micra which will slide in beneath the Versa in the lineup.

Just want to add how pleased I've been with my SL hatch. The 5 year lease is almost up. Only needed fluids & filters. Going back with original tires, exhaust, brakes (cleaned & adjusted twice), battery etc all in good order per my dealer.

I took a look at the spec sheet. Looks like the sedan that'll be introduced in North America will basically be built out of the existing platform in new sheet metal + weight reductions to the drive train.

The hatch, which was unveiled across the Pacific, will have a longer wheelbase (100mm longer) than the current Tiida/Versa.

That does look like the 2012 Versa sedan:

Nissan Tiida = Versa hatch
