Got hit by a driver who ran a stop sign last Friday. I think they are going to declare by brand new black, 2007 Versa a total loss. I am so sad... It only had 2,000 miles on it and hadn't even gotten its first oil change. I was hit from the side pretty hard, the side airbags deployed, but I hit a lampost with the back end and they said it's going to be hard to repair since the Versa's so new and they don't have the parts. I'm just here to RANT and MOURN...

I hope so, still waiting whether they declare it a total loss, but it looks like that's pretty likely. Can't believe I am going car shopping again, 2 months after just buying a new car!

Truly sorry to hear your story. I got cut off on December 28th on the highway, bouncing my Toyota Echo hatch off the wall and off an 18-wheeler. My car was totalled but I was fine. Be happy you're in one piece, and maybe you'll get an even better Versa out of it. I had one week left on my policy before replacement value would have been taken away!

Were there any options or features you really wanted but couldn't get? Here's your chance. Hope everyhitng works out for the best, I love my Versa so much more than my Toyota.

I agree with OKVersa. I would rather start fresh with a new one. I only had one vehicle in my life that came back better after a major repair. Fingers crossed for a total report.

shreqboi, do us all a favor and turn of that caps lock button when posting. Thanks

I'd hope for the write off too. after sustaining that much damage the car is not likely to be the same after repair.

The side impact (and subsequent airbag deployment) will be the reason for the totalling, which I also view as likely. There will not likely be any way they can straighten up the frame, roof, and sides again.

I was hit and the car took some bad damage to the rear and also got its front bumper lanced by a trailer hitch. $8000 in damages and 2+ months l got it back... Still drove like new (minus the cracked torque rod, which Nissan was supposed to fix but never did), but I had a DAMN good body shop. I ended up having to point out several times to the other guy's insurance agent that in our state, we can pick our own body shop, and they have to honor it.

Just out of curiosity Aroz, but was your Versa an SL with ABS?

From the damages he describes, it appears that he as T-boned. ABS wouldn't help him out much. Well unless he saw the guy coming, but slid out in front of him.

Actually, the reason I was asking is that I was curious if he bought the Versa that I ordered from Nissan that was supposed to be delivered in 2-3 months, but actually arrived 5 months later. The dealer called to say it had arrived a little over a month after I couldn't wait any longer and bought a base FIT instead. I checked out the dealer website and it was listed on the online inventory for practically a wink of an eye before it was gone.

The funny thing is I put so much work into researching the car and negotiating the price that I'm still strangely sentimental about it. When I saw that aroz was from DC it occured to me that he might have bought my erstwhile car.

My Bad Dawg. I thought you were asking for other reasons. Sorry to hear that you couldn't get your V. What dealer were you dealing with? Let us know so that others can be warned about them.

I really don't hold a grudge against the dealership, so I don't want to discourage anyone from going there. I really place the blame on Nissan underestimating the demand for the Versa (SL) and overestimating the allure of the new Sentra. And getting an ABS model shouldn't be as big a deal as it is.

Then it's settled. We should avoid Nissan at all cost........Wait a minute.....ummm, scratch that. j/k
