I have test driven every new compact, economy, and mid-size car (with the exception of any American P.O.S.) and noticed a few things:
1. Most cars feel like they are cheaply made:
Both the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris (not to mention the ENTIRE Scion line) feel like some kid made them out of leftover plastic from a failed science experiement. Not only that, but the pickup was pathetic!
2. The Versa Offers something strange...
It doesn't feel like the common compact / economy car, but is as sturdy (if not more) than my old Taurus which weighed twice the amount and was less than half as fun to drive... I constantly get people here in Athens, GA wanting to race me on the back roads, but more importantly find people doing a run around of the Versa when it's parked downtown!
3. Styling!
Hondas are typical Japanese styling inside and out. They are predictable and boring as far as I am concerned! Toyotas always look like Grandpa should be driving, and I wouldn't touch a Mitsubishi with a 20 foot pole! Just look at the Versa from different angles: From one side it looks like a little sports compact, from another a mini Murano and so forth...
4. Price. If I want to throw several thousand dollars down the drain, I want to do it in performance and stereo upgrades, not a smaller, dull, daily driver.
5. City Life!
I live in Atlanta / Athens, but whenever I take this car to Washington D.C. or New York, I feel like I have a little pocket rocket! The gearing is definitely made for tight, crazy, aggressive driving... I LOVE IT! And, with the strut bar, it's so far glued to the road, I don't worry about slip streams anymore...
