I got my Versa less than 48 hours ago, and as far as the basics go everything's great. However, there are a few issues that I'll be bringing it back to the dealer for shortly, and I couldn't find any mention of them on this forum -- so I'm wondering if any of you have experienced them.

The car is a 2008 SL Hatchback 6-speed with sunroof, convenience package and audio package. As such, it has the seven-speaker stereo and bluetooth phone support. It does not have the sport package. It was manufactured in November 2007.

---

Problem #1: Slightly warped rear bumper

Underneath the rear bumper, near the center but not quite, the bumper is warped; it bulges downward as if there were an object like a protruding bolt pushing it down, but there isn't.

Problem #2: Cracked/torn sunroof weather seal

On the left side (if you're facing forward) on top of the sunroof weather seal, there are a significant number of cracks/tearing. You can see it from outside the car without looking too closely.

Problem #3: Something wrong with the rear speakers/sub

With the fader on 0, the speakers in front are MUCH louder than the rears; with the fader on R3, the speakers in front are still noticeably louder than the rears. On R4, they're about even, but the sound quality is terrible, and on R5 (full back) the sound is mufled and lousy. On F5 the front speakers have significantly more and cleaner bass than on R5 with the subwoofer, too!

---

Anyone else have these/solve these?

Sounds like a warranty trip to the dealer is in order.

Huh. With other cars I've owned in other forums, this sort of question usually gets some "I do have this problem" and "I've never heard of that problem" posts. Not a chatty bunch here, I guess.

FWIW, I found that one of the welds in the sunroof opening is jagged and wasn't ground down before they painted and installed the sunroof, so that's what ripped the sunroof seal open, probably the first time it was opened. So bad manufacturing and quality control on that one.

Can someone here at least confirm that their rear speakers/subwoofer and rear bumper don't have the problems I've described, so that I can say as much when the dealer says "oh, they're all like that"?

You're right. I should have detailed it for you.

Mine is a 2007 SL hatchback, but

#1 - I have the same bulge in the same location on the bottom of my bumper.

#2 - No sunroof problems here. My fit, finish and weather seal are just fine. The car has been in some bigtime downpours and the edges of the sunroof didn't allow any water in at all.

#3- I just went out and played with the sound system. Mine is ok so I think you have a problem with yours. It was something I hadn't paid attention to because we use the stereo strictly for background sound entertainment to lessen road noise. We never turn it up enough to drown out the sound of emergency vehicles approaching or encroach on our conversations like most people in this area.

Thank for your confirming you have the same bulge -- if it isn't a one-off indicator of damage, I won't bother trying to have the dealer replace my bumper. I feel better knowing I'm not the only one.

And yeah, I didn't notice the radio was bad in the back until I threw a few coworkers back there, and one said "do you even have speakers back here?"

Thanks again.

You're welcome.

As far as the stereo is concerned, we set the volume control at "8" with the sunroof tilted and the kids sing along with the music just fine, so they obviously can hear it. Even at freeway speed.

Tell the dealer you want to see other Versas in the parking lot to check the issue.I had this problem before: "All are the same", but when we checked other Vs, it was not the same - so they had to change that part.
