Hi All,

I bought a new Versa three weeks ago. It is a 2008 S, manual transmission. I was very pleased with the gas mileage from the first tank. About 50/50 city/highway driving, and I got 31.4 mpg. I was expecting it to be lower than this during the break-in period.

I've heard that it will get even better when the car is broken in. I'm hopeful I will get close to 35 mpg highway eventually.

Anyway, just wanted to share.

John Henry

Congrats! I didn't realize 30 mpg until the car had almost 15,000 miles on it. Be patient, it'll come around.

My fuel economy peaked at 10k miles and has been slowly decreasing since then. I'm hoping that it's just the winter fuel, and that it increases again in the spring.

I am on my third tank. First tank I got 22mpg, second I got 23.5mpg. I am hoping to get up around 30mpg by 10k miles. I would be pretty pleased to get 31 on the first tank.

I reset my odometer at every fill up and usually I'm at around 310 miles when I'm filling up...so ya do the math if you wish.

Whether it's fuel, temperatures or road conditions, I expect your mileage will increase in the spring. I posted a chart in another thread that shows my mileage, and from the time I started tracking it a couple of cars ago, there's always a peak in the summer and a trough in the winter. In the Versa, I can easily go 400-420 miles on a tank in the summer, but only 375-395 in the winter.

Bought my V at Christmas at my brother's dealership in Cleveland (was a trade-in with 1,100 miles on it) and drove it home to Minneapolis, got 31 mpg on the interstates. It now has 2,700 miles on it and mileage is lower because of the weather. Have you seen how cold it's been!!! We had @ 10 straight days below zero recently. Anyone have an opinion of how long to warm up the V in the am? I'm a little leery of stressing the CVT belt. A friend says that no modern car needs longer than 30 seconds, and the car warms ups faster when it's driven at moderate speed - 20-30 mph.
