The hardcore mode makes the game redeeming. I was badly let down by Fallout 3 (after waiting 10 years for it), and the fact that the level cap came so quickly AND you're basically invincible by level 15 or so if you dont build a totally retarded character, that the game became very disinteresting. Now with having to manage food/water/sleep and no instant heals, this game looks to be on the right track.

Ugh... All I can think about right now is getting back home and playing New Vegas. This business trip has been killer but it's time to shut up shop and head back to DC.

In know fallout 3 was great. Im trying to platinum it but I hate the fact that you need to beat it good/neutral/evil.

Thats a great cheat that I would hate to use.

Cant wait for it. hardcore seems like a real challenge.

Hardcore isn't as much a challenge as it is making things have a point in the game. There is SO MUCH food items in Fallout, hardcore mode just makes them have a purpose.

Goes a lot beyond just that too. You can create clean water out of the cactus and an empty soda bottle. You can make clean water out of 30 dirty waters, some rad away and a few other things I cant think of off the top of my head. The hardcore mode also gives you a reason to invest in "Survival".

Hardcore mode isn't really difficult, it's just a minor inconvenience. I also made that one of my final achievements to get. I did a speed run through just the main quests and finished the game in about 6 hours in hardcore mode. Just drink some water once an hour and eat some gecko meat and you'll be good go go.

really only 6 hours? I no if you could do that in Fallout 3, by the time the boss and worlds of the enclave come, you would die in just a couple hits

Still holding off on this game though I want it. I am currently dating GT5 and Black Ops..:squint:

The locations are much better in F3...but the characters, weapons, and game-play enhancements are better in Vegas I found.
Just so many pointless locations in Vegas...

I've been impressed with it so far but I haven't played through it myself yet, my wife just beat it a couple of weeks ago though so maybe i'll give it a run through soon. Watching her play through it, I think it has some improvements over F3 but it's nothing special to me other than just a new storyline and some minor new features.

I agree 100%. I greatly preferred exploring the ruins of of DC to the pretty boring locale of Vegas. Also I found some of the achievements annoying/more time consuming. Most of the achievements for Fallout 3 were just completing certain quests whereas the ones in NV were like "do 10,000 damage with this weapon, heal 10,000 with food" etc. And collecting those stupid star caps was a pain in the a**!!!
