i just took apart my head on my DE and looking at the valves they look sound. i was just wondering what would be the benifit of buying different valves? are some lighter? take more heat? I understand getting better springs but valves themselves have me at a loss?

when going with aftermarket valves, theyre bigger than stock in diameter where they seat on the head. this allows for more air coming and out, resulting in of course more power. its only something youd want to do if youre going all out, and have a shlt load of money to spend. plus you have to factor in the cost of the machine work that would need to be done to the head which = more money. not that many people run bigger valves, let alone aftermarket valvetrain besides cams. if youre building a race motor, upgrade the valvetrain. if its a street car, not necessary.

Get it ported, not polished. This will aid in atomization around the valves. This = better combustion = more power. If you must get something polished, make it the intake mani, and get it extrude honed. As for the valves, some sodium filled valves are for high heat, but for the most part, J-z is right.

ported and not polished? really never would have thought of that but you bring up a good point. another question i have is is there anyway to make more power at higher rpms if i wanted to have my ECU set to 8K red line or would that just be worthless?

the only way to move your powerband for the need to rev that high is a set of real nasty cams. you dont need to rev that high on a ka anways though. its a torque motor. just make sure you get a properly sized turbo for your application and you wont have to do any of this stuff.

Prob don't need bigger valves. You certainly can, and if it were me going through that kind of expense, I would. But then you also have to think about the intake mani, or they may not do you a lot of good.
