Hello!

Well, I'm new to this webiste and I've had my 07 Z for a month and love it. However, the sound system is horrible! I read the great article by Jeff Wisener on what you need to know before modifying your Z. I want to start with my sound system. However, I know nothing about this topic.

Basically, I want great base and a system that is able to play my i-pod songs. Other modifications I will be looking into is a DVD player, blue tooth and a navigation system. I don't know if all of these modificaitons are possible, but that is where I'm starting since my only negative about the car is the lack of ammenities inside!

Thank you for your help.

~ Julio

be sure to search, there are several threads covering stereo upgrades tot he Z33, there are off the shelf boxes that fit under the rear strut bar, or if you ahve a bose equipped car you can convert the stock sub location to fit a better sub, and there are plenty of other one off's

I registered just to help you out with this. I havn't even gotten my Z yet but I've been researching for a sound system for about a few weeks now. The first thing we gotta know is how much money you willing to drop for a system.

I'm looking to spend around 3k, this includes a doubled in head unit, component door speakers and 2 12's in a custom enclosure powered by an amp for the door speakers and an amp for the subs.

I've been to all the major department stores and well they got nothing you can use. It's all low end stuff or brand names that are just over rated.

I've been jumping around on products I want but so far these are what to consider for now;

Head Units to consider Kenwood Excelone 9140 navi or last years 814 non navi. No other head unit offers 5v preouts, 13 band equalizers and an advanced graphic user face.

Door Speakers to consider Boston Accoustics. Everyone talks about them but it takes money to get their good stuff, MB Quartz and infiniti kapas are good but only if you like lots of treble. Right now kickers are selling their Rs series for a real good deal and they are the bang for the buck right now.

Sub woofers I'm considering are JL's only, The w7's are very loud but the w6's have better control and overall sound quality.

My best source is a friend of mine who owns a Audio shop in LA. He caries every brand you can think of and gets the newest electronics first since he's in cali.

Here's his website http://www.armexcaraudio.com.

I hope that all helped

Hey,

Thanks ALOT for the help. I think I'll spend around the same amount your doing. Which means I won't be able to do this until Christmas lol. The only concern I have, is that when I bought my car the dealership said to be careful in what I'm buying because other parts of the cars are wired through the sound system and certain brands/sound systems make the car function poorly. Anyways, that was the kind of help I was looking for and I appreciate the detailed answered and websites.

There's also an audio guru on NICO (look up Broadfield) he has worked on a lot of Z's and has helped me out quite a bit with my audio setups for both my old 240sx and my Z. Plus he also has great prices and ships ridiculously fast....

Shoot me an email and we can start planning your system. You can find "some" of the equipment I carry in my sig. I carry much more, especially high end stuff..... Hybrid Audio for speakers, Zapco for amplifiers etc. I have been in the business for 17 years and have personally installed in about 25,000 vehicles. Once we get to emailing I will also want to talk to you via phone at some point. I like to talk to all of my customers that are making a decent purchase. That way I can get a feel for what they are thinking and make sure they are getting the product that is right for them.
