Hi All,

I have just recently picked up a U320 dual cab in a fairly sorry state, with the intention of slowly bringing it back to life.
I have done a bit of research on them and couldn't pass up the chance to save a fairly rare vehicle!

I will have heaps of questions I'm sure but thought I'd say hello first.

To start, I know I need at least to following:
- rear tail light assemblies
- exterior door handles
- Air filter housing (I have this, but its got some rust holes - may just have to repair it)

And a first question:
How to the rear side panels attach to the car? It looks like they bolt on down the inside of the door seam, but how does it attach across the top of the bed? Bolts? Rivets? Spot welds?

Welcome aboard!

You have a HUGE project there. I own a 58 Bluebird, a 63 NL320, a 63 Bluebird, and used to have a 60 Bluebird. The taillight surrounds and lenses will likely cost more than you paid for the car, unfortunately. The bed-side panels should be spot-welded across the top inner lip of the bed, as far as I know.

The bigger challenge will be finding rubber for the glass, but they're a super-cool ute for sure!

The last week or so I have been spending a little time on the 320. Have cleaned it up a bit, and started working on getting it running.
After pulling the carb off and cleaning it out the best I could, I cleaned up the points, rotor and cap, poured some fuel down the carb throat and got it to fire off.

Fired after about a minute of cranking (first time of a very long time!) Can't kill these old cars :)

I am missing a few parts to get it running longer though.
I need a fuel pump and generator if anyone has one I could have?

Also need a new accelerator cable, can't seem to find it online, does the 520 cable fit?

Thanks

Generator should be rebuildable, certainly not readily available. Most folks convert to alternator. Fuel pump should be a Nikki unit, might find one thru a seller in Thailand or Singapore.

Sorry, should have been more specific, the generator is missing from the truck, so have nothing to get rebuilt. I'd be happy to get one that needs rebuilding though.
I'm hoping to try and keep this as stock as possible if I can.

Hi All,

Can anyone help tell me the thread size for the elbow that comes through the fender for fuel line from the tank? Also the thread for the hard line from carb to pump?

Looking at these two parts:

Thanks in advanced

Suggest you join the FaceBook group “Datsun 320 Owners” group. There are quite a number of Australians that have 320 Utes.
One of the members Adrian Diehm has a number of reproduction parts.

Not much has happened since the last update, little bits of tinkering and cleanup, but the other car (the mini next to it) needs some major work for its registration renewal so that's consuming my time right now (between work and homeschooling kids due to covid lockdown)
